The question was bugging me, lol. Since I haven't made them in ages, I did some poking around on the net. Some recipes call for cooking the rice and beef first, while others don't. Blanch the peppers for about 3 1/2 minutes (so they won't be too crunchy), stuff w cooked filling, and bake. Since, you put everything back in the pot(?) (not sure what that means), I would nuke 'em till everything is cooked through. If you're baking them, bake till everything is cooked through. Good luck.

You will cook the rice ahead of time, as well as the ground beef (or turkey or whatever), and you also boil the bell pepper for a short time. If you don't cook the meat ahead of time, all of the fat from the meat will be in the bottom of you bell pepper, making it greasy and unhealthy. Good luck, hope you bought peppers that can stand up on their own.

Cook the rice first or else it will NOT get done enough before the other items are done. Also I hope that your recipe told you that you need to cook the bell peppers just a little before stuffing them. You need to boil them in water for just a little while as they will not get tender enough during baking time either.

The recipe I used to use did not require the ingredients to be cooked before stuffing and baking the peppers. The added water or tomato juice steamed the rice and meat (covered) while the dish baked. It was delicious!

This is a family recipe and no you don't have to cook anything. We make what looks like a meatloaf mixture and put it into halved-lengthwise bell peppers. Top with spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour. Hope it helps!

Cook, the rice before you put it in, otherwise it'll take forever to cook. Instead, all you have to do is basically warm the whole thing up, and soften the pepper. This also makes it easy to make ahead. Good Luck

undercooked and as your stuffing the bell peppers to cook them the rice should cook the rest of the way and absorb some of the wonderful juice the bell pepper has to offer

Cook everything... especially the rice, it needs to cook in water or broth to be edible. You're only cooking the peppers long enough to heat them through, any more than that and they will lose their shape. Hope that helps.

COOKED!!!!

Green bell peppers are filled with ground beef, ((cooked rice)), tomato sauce, and seasonings, then baked for an hour with additional tomato sauce and Italian-style seasoning.
