They are protein shakes w/ a really high carb count, and they're for gaining weight. Your body type is called an ectomorph, those that stay lean no matter what they eat. My brother is one also. He drinks Cytogainer in mint chocolate chip and says it's really good. He's gained over 10 lbs in the last half year. I suggest you check out www.bodybuilding.com Go in their supersite and look through their forums. There are women that started out stick skinny and have transformed themselves into curvey toned women through diet and exercise.

Unless you really like them protein shakes won't be a very good choice. I'm guessing you probably need to bulk up about 15 lbs of muscle. This will mean some exercise and a little increased protein intake, but mostly just Calories, and carbs will be easiest and most efficient to metabolize.

Try eating more meat and tring to lift to gain muscle tone. Your genetics make up your metabolism and sometimes it beats you. I am the opposite. I can gain muscle and weight but, cannot seem to get the extra weight off. I guess it takes a little more effort for different body types. Eat meat and drink vitamin D milk. happy hoidays!!!

Protein shakes would be a good bet as long as you also eat your meal.
FYI There has been a new study linking high protein diet with breast cancer in post menopausal women. I realize you're no were near there, but thought you might like to know.

Eat a lot of meat and malts and milkshakes. I'm 13 and i weigh as much as you and i also eat a lot and i can never gain any weight. Just exercise daily, which is healthy. Just eat large meals a day and exercise and you'll do good.

substituting regular drinks (sodas, etc.) for protein shakes or meal replacement drinks (ensure, nutrament) and still eating a meal should do the trick. i didn't realize how much calories were in ensure and i used to drink it with my meals. In a month i put on 10lbs. and it wasn't fat. i looked ripped! lol also try eating more time a day high energy/calorie foods (protien bars, meat, carbs-bread, potatoes)

Lucky! Basically, you can eat whatever you want and get away with it. Just make sure you are getting part of every food group and you will be fine. Your metabolism will eventually slow down, so enjoy it while you can.
