Start over from the beginning and make sure your'e doing it the right way. The good thing is that at 5 months she has bladder control so it will be easier. The first thing you need to do is thoroughly clean everywhere she's gone so SHE can't smell it or you won't be able to stop her from going back there.

Then, keep her in the room with you while you're re-training so you can keep an eye on her. At this age, she must give signals when she needs to go. After a long nap, hard playing, or if she's restless and circling, take her out. You need to go out with her, tell her "go pee" and the second she does, give her lots and lots of praise, then come back in. This is so she can differentiate between play time outside and potty time outside.

When she has an accident, quietly clean it up unless you catch her in the act, then tell her a firm no, take her out, and praise if she finishes outside. By not giving her the chance to make a mistake and using lots of praise, she'll learn quickly. Dogs learn through positive reinforcement really well, not through punishment. You need to be very consistent and she will get it.

While you're re-training, you need to crate her at night and when you're not home until she's at the stage where she's reliably housetrained.

Start from the beginning. Crate train her. Keep her in the crate at night, when you are not home and when you are not available to watch her. When she is not crated keep her on a strict walk schedule and watch closely for signs that she is about to go. Take her out at first signs of sniffing or circling. Praise all outside poos and pees. If she has an accident in the house and you witness it, firmly without yelling tell her "no outside potty" and take her outside. If she has an accident and you do not witness it there is nothing you can do. This is the best way to housebreak a dog who is having trouble.

Try taking her out more often, as some dogs are slower to mature and develop bladder control. I would start taking her out every 1-2 hours and then go from there. Also, you may want to bell train her, where you teach her to ring a bell when she needs to go outside. You do this by ringing a bell every time you go outside with her to go potty. Then if she rings the bell take her outside. She will eventually figure out that she needs to ring the bell to go outside when she needs to potty.

I trained one of my dogs this way, and now she almost never has an accident in the house. But, just be patient she will figure it out, it takes longer for some dogs then others. Good Luck!

Be patient. It takes time. Start by noticing signs that she is about to go and take her out immediately. But stop at the door before going out to teach her to go to the door when she needs to go. Also try putting her on a schedule. Dogs are a lot like children.

Dogs thrive on routine. She needs to be on a strict schedule of going outside. When she makes a mistake take her outside right away.

soon she will ask to go out after she eats.
you have to train YOU to watch her lol
my 6 mo old is potty trained very well but she can open the door of our fridge and yesterday brought me my husbands lunch !!!!
how would you keep her out? a gate won't work.

scold her tell her no! and ignore her for a minute or two. When she goes in the right place be happy and give her treats, then she knows on the floor is a no-no. And where ever she supposed to go is a happy place filled with treats.

changing the carpet is a reliable thought. in case you are able to furnish the subfloor a wash with a 50/50 combination of white vinegar and water before the recent carpet is going in, much extra powerful. canines will pass back the place they have long gone before. when you consider that canines' noses are hundreds of situations extra delicate than ours, even whilst we gained't scent it, they are able to. Vinegar thoroughly neutralizes odors and is a lot decrease priced than "enzyme" products (and the vinegar scent disappears as quickly because of the fact the vinegar dries). No family individuals with pets could desire to be without a minimum of a gallon. when you consider that your doggies have already greater a bad habit, consistent monitoring is going to be the main as quickly as all odors have been completely eradicated. the residing house would be a clean slate, however the doggies nonetheless have the habit. Crate practise is amazingly powerful--in case you are able to desire to run an errand or be away for some hours, save each and each canines in a crate it relatively is basically great adequate for it to conveniently lie down in. canines won't bathroom the place they sleep. I additionally does not advise utilising pee pads. often canines won't be able to tell the adaptation between a pee pad, a newspaper, a e book, the carpet, and so on. incredibly with larger canines, practise them to pass outdoors only is a reliable thought. If there is an twist of fate interior the residing house, you are able to desire to seize the canines interior the act to discipline it. A canines does not associate a pile of feces with the act of transforming into that feces, minutes or hours after he made it. save a watch on them, and in the event that they commence appearing like they'll pee (sniffing around in a circle--seize them before they start to squat!) take them outdoors acceptable away and compliment them for doing their organisation outdoors. in the event that they think of going outdoors is a cope with, it relatively is why you are able to desire to seize them before they start to pee. meaning consistent vigilance and monitoring on an analogous time as they're out and with regard to the residing house, till they are able to be depended on. in case you won't be able to be staring at them, placed them interior the crates or outdoors. Any indoor injuries on the carpet could desire to be DOUSED with the 50/50 vinegar/water blend till the carpet pad decrease than is soaked, too.
