My skin is VERY pale, i look almost albino. And i don't know if i should use a self-tanner or just stay pale. I hate it when people ask me if i'm part albino, so i don't know. Any suggestions? I have Jergans natural glow for both face and body, but i don't know if I'm going to use it. I have dark blue eyes and brown hair, and my skin looks like this...

I also have very pale skin that never tans. I've tried tanning beds and every self tanner on the planet. Tanning beds don't do anything, no matter what kind of fancy bronzing lotion you use, save yourself some money and don't buy it. Self tanner is a hassle because even if you do get it to go on evenly it always smells funny and you have to reapply it every couple days which gets to be very expensive. All growing up I was so embarassed of my pastiness. I'm now 26 and decided about 5 years ago that I don't care if I'm pale. There's nothing I can do about it and I'm not going to give myself skin cancer trying to please everyone else. I realized that although I've always thought it would be nice to have a tan, I didn't really mind that much. It was everybody else that I was worried about. Now I just wear what I want and if somebody doesn't like it, too bad. Trust me, you'll be much better off if you just accept it. I also decided that I wasn't ever going to date or marry anybody who made me feel bad about it or made a big deal about it. After I stopped worrying about it I realized there are a lot of people who really don't care if you've got pasty white skin or a golden tan. Hope this helps!

I have used Jergans in the past and I feel like it made me look fake. Of course, I did use a bit too much. If you want to risk the whole skin cancer thing, you can go to a tanning booth. I have very fair skin too, and so you would need to do the lightest one possible. But if you would rather take the safe route you can try a self-tanner. But before doing it on your face, test it on your upper thigh or somewhere that won't show. You can give Jergans a try on your legs first, if you like it then use it on your face. But make sure its the one that is for your face. My friend used the one for your body on her face, that gave her an orange glow! Since your skin is so fair, make sure that the Jergans is the one that's for fair skin. Or you can try that build a tan stuff. I think that it is from Neutrogena. If you need any more info you can email me. Remember that you are beautiful just the way you are! Good Luck!

Don't worry about it. When somebody is asks you if you're "part albino," you could crack back with something like "Yeah, I come from a long line of vitamin C deficient rabbits!"
Unless your doctor tells you that you have some sort of deficiency or other problem, don't worry about it. If it really bothers you, then you should try to get out and get some excercise, and at the same time you will develop a light tan. I don't recommend you lie on the beach or go to a tanning salon. That can be hard on you.
Remember, God made you perfect just the way you are!

Definitely go the self-tanner route. The Natural Glow and similar products are fantastic. They develop very gradually, so you're less likely to get all streaky and spotty like previous products. The only down side is that you have to apply them every day to develop a "tan."

If you are that fair-skinned, then you drastically increase your risk of skin cancer if you tan via exposure to UV-rays. Also, if you're that fair-skinned (I am too), then all you probably ever would get is red in the sun or in a tanning bed.

I always say better to be pale than to be dead via carcinoma...but that's a decision you have to make.

Stay pale!! Wear blusher and play up your complexion with the right deep or bright colours. I think your description of yourself sounds gorgeous and unique. I'm also very fair-skinned and people used to ask me if I was sick or albino, and especially during the summer I'd be so bothered by this. Now I've learnt to play up my colours and I get so many compliments on my creamy skin. Another trick - bag yourself a darkskinned boyfriend, he won't be able to keep his hands off his vanilla ice hottie!
P.S. tanning is not worth the health risk and early wrinkles anyway.

i too have very pale skin and hate it. in the winter, i just use a light dusting of bronzer. i would recommend waiting to try the self-tanner until spring or summer when you would naturally pick up a little more sunlight anyway. i am not a big advocate of tanning booths but getting some real sunlight (with some spf on, of course) in the spring and summer is good for you (vitamin d). of course, check with your dermotologist before you do this because ain't nobody trying to get skin cancer!

i know how you feel and for some reason its hard for me to tan.

if you tan the first time with spf on you wont get as dark or if you dont have spf you will fry really bad i did.

1...take 2000 mg of vitamin c 30 mins. before tanning to help the suns rays bronze you not burn you.

2...always keep something on your face it will bonze on its own. a red face looks bad.

3...start in a tanning bed at about 5 mins 2-3 times a week and gradually work your way up as your skin is used to it over time.

4...if you can afford it some salons do a great airbrush tan that looks really sexy and they know how much for what skin tones so you wont come out orange or to dark for your features.

5...it takes time and work to get a nice sunkissed tan, but over time you will look great.

good luck!

I have the same problem. The thing about self-tanner is that it is normally stinky and you may get allergic to it if you have sensitive skin. It also turns out uneven and rubs off on your clothes.

You can try it and see what happens. But I doubt it can be changed.

Frankly, I have started to take pride in it. Pale skin, blonde hair...now if I can get the "skin and bones" look down pat, I will get those shocked stares that I love from the jealous girls. They amuse me so. They just can't compete with my beauty.

There's nothing wrong with being pale. I have the same problem: really dark hair, dark blue eyes, and super pale skin. My friend jokingly refers to me as Snow White. It's not a bad thing! Look at Nicole Kidman ... she's so pale she radiates! ... What would she look like with a fake tan? *shudders* ... Just keep your skin healthy, invest in a pretty peach blush (it takes care of the "walking dead" look), and take pride in what USED to be considered the ultimate beauty standard! (dark skin signified a working-class status).

Your skin is beautiful if that's what it looks like; that's a model I know, but her skin is very near perfect. Not everyone has golden brown or tanned skin, and probably many of those who do are jealous of you. The model in the pic doesn't look anything like an albino, she is a fair skinned beauty and if that's what you look like, you should be proud and happy.
