If you don't want meds you'll have to force yourself to work on it. I've overcome depression more than once without meds, it's hard. Here's what I did:
Eat healthy. Take a good quality balanced multivitamin. Drink plenty of water. Exersize regularly, even if it's just a half hour of walking in your neighborhood. Get out of the house and spend time with people. Have a hobby, or a bunch of hobbies, stay busy. Spend time with people who are positive and contribute to your life. This may mean finding new relationships - join clubs for things you are interested in and try to make friends in them.
The above is your foundation for the real work. The real work is to always turn your mind to positive thoughts. Feeling immediately follows thought, so if you are thinking about things that are negative, bad and upsetting - you will have negative, bad and upsetting feelings. When you find yourself thinking negatively, force yourself to think about positive things, things you like about yourself, about others, about the world and life in general. It can help to have a "default positive thought' that you immediately turn to when you catch yourself thinking negative. You need to do this EVERY TIME you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts. I won't kid you, this isn't easy but after several weeks it will start to get easier and if you keep with it thinking positively will start to become your new habit.
Find some books on being happy and read them. Not everything in the books will be right and good for you, but you will find many things you can use.
I started this about 10 years ago and I still do have to make an effort and work on it but I am happier than I have ever been in my life. Things will not change right away and you will have periods of backsliding, but dust yourself off, get up and get back at it. When I look back at it, the concious decision to take control of my feelings and conciously pursue being happy was the most important thing I have ever done for myself.
Good luck and best wishes.
Be strong and GO FOR IT!!

Do daily aerobics and stretching to RELEASE all those tensions. They slowly kill you inside. I use to feel the same way. After about 4 weeks, all those feelings went away. Now it takes only 15 minutes a day of aerobics and stretching and I feel GREAT the entire day.

You need to destress - find an outlet for your emotions, whether its exercise, going out with friends, meditation. Run till you can't breathe - find something exhilarating to do... Wake up your inner emotions! Remember that watching the tv and surfing the web aren't really stress relievers, they are habits and time wasters.

your question really pulled at my heart. I have felt the same way. I have found that when I list my blessings I feel better. I also broke down and went to the doc and got meds. They really help, please consider going to see a professional. God Bless

You do need to see a Dr. Maybe a diet might help, he would know.
