most christians and non-muslims tell me that the problem with islam is that half of the muslims keep saying that its a religion of peace and then you see these guys blowing themselves up in the middle east.
but even when i try to explain that they are not true muslims, they tell me that i'm also responsible because i'm one of the apologetic muslims who make up excuses for islam but never do anything.

but is there something i could do? if so what?? even the people who condemn the actions of muslims in those countries, are they doing something except disrespecting islam?

i want an honest answer please dont answer if you are only going to make disrespectful remarks. thank you.

here is the sad truth about humans: they will condom the whole because of the actions of a few. i think Islam IS a peaceful religion but some people use that as means to brainwash others into joining the cause. like some christians blow up abortion clinics saying that it's killing kids...thus some people say christians are hypocrites. Dont listen to them, only listen to constructive criticism. Islam is a very peaceful religion, so dont worry. and i am sorry to say there is NOTHING you can do cause people will always want someone to blame or point fingers to prove that they are right. Peace be with you

You are not personally responsible for the mistakes of other muslims, period. However, Muslims worldwide have a major image problem and rightfully so. A significant portion of the Muslim world has become radicalized and violent and has attacked noncombatants throughout the world, Muslim and non-Muslim alike. When 19 hijackers flew planes into buildings on September 11, 2001, they did so out of religious fervor though I'm sure there were political motivations as well. Yes, the Muslim world needs to eradicate the radicals and do so now because the non-Muslim world will only be pushed so far until they decide to retaliate.

When you tell people that terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and al-Qaeda and powerful Islamic men of great public persuasion like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Usama bin Laden aren't true Muslims, it's just doesn't make sense to many people.

You see, those just mentioned talk nearly exclusively about things like Allah and the Koran, the importance of Martyrdom and your duty to Allah, that non-Muslims are Infidels, how the Koran likens Jews to the descendants of apes and pigs, various Koran and Hadith verse-quoting which seem to clearly advocate all forms of violence to non-Muslums...

"It's all about Islam," many people think when they see and hear this sort of thing. "How could they not really be Muslim? It doesn't make sense... Every minute thing they do and say has to do with Islam. Islam even governs their laws." There's just a huge disconnect there. They seem very Muslim.

Stack that on top of you rarely see or hear a Muslim speak out against terrorism or suicide attacks. It's usually prefixed with "It's wrong to kill innocent people but, Israel is an illegitimate state, and the U.S. and Bush are lapdogs of the Zionists..." And when you do hear condemnation, it's someone like that spokesman for CAIR, who is so transparent in his agenda and turns any subject back around with hyper-left cliches.

The non-Muslim public are left with few conclusions to draw other than moderate Muslims must be sympathetic and resonant with extremist speech and behavior.

And if any non-Muslim happens to do any research, you will find that the Koran does advocate violence to non-Muslims if you read from the sources where they don't pull any of the punches. It also promotes peace, tolerance and compassion in many different passages. That's also a fact.

It's a difficult thing for non-Muslims to understand. The Bible has its share of violent moments, but the Christian prophet never advocated violence in any way.

Electrontransfer01, I've read some of your posts and you have a great mind. If anyone has a chance to convince people that extremists aren't true Muslims, it's you. I wish you the best.

Hundreds of thousands show up at Hamas rallies. Maybe if we saw some counter movement that was even close, you would have a better case.

I agree it isn't all Muslims. But it isn't a small part either. I really don't see any serious protest about what is being done in YOUR name. What I see is Muslims (like you) coming here and saying that we are wrong for noticing. Your religion is getting very close to starting WWIII and the ONLY group that has a decent chance to stop it is other Muslims.

what you do has no affect on the so called "muslims" blowing themselves up. if those guys actually checked out real islam...not the extreme made up version...they would know that what they are doing is completely against the religion. what you can do is help spread the true religion and tell people what is true and false. show them books and the Quran. peace.

Most muslims around the world were forcibly converted (especially in India/Pakistan/Bangladesh during invasions by Islam) and in parts of Africa where Arabs enslaved blacks.

So although Islam is a beautiful religion, it would be a minor religion without its violent past.

You are not responsible for your ancestor violence or submission to violence.

no .. you are you and they are they
you do not live their lives for them and are not responsible for them
you can only spread some peace and love as an individual and hopefully people will know by your actions that your religion is not about terrorism and war
and this should apply to every religious person

Radical muslim's are not representative of your religion. You should not take offense to Christians, their religion has killed the most people historically by a very large margin. And many of these were members of their direct church, not radical groups. Just leave ignorance out of your mind and keep living.

no but people can only see a issue as either black or white, it's either wrong or right, and they believe everything they hear, and never think of checking something out for themselves, if CNN, or Fox news said it then it must be true, and all the other news net works,
but because of a few, many will suffer and that's whats happening with you, and most all beliefs
