I am a legal assistant for an attorney that handles traffic tickets. First of all, the questions an attorney will ask you is.
1. is this your first offense
2. do you have a valid license
it also depends on the city you were ticketed in, all cities, counties, states have different fines and costs for these.
if you plead guilty and send your money in, then it will go on your license and will most likely be reported to your insurance company, if this is your first offense, your insurance company may not up your rate, depends on the company also.
If you plead not guilty, retain an attorney, this is what will happen in Kansas City Missouri,
If you retain an attorney:
plead guilty to the speeding charge, have the ticket amended to defective equipment, pay the fine and costs. this will not go on your license, that is why you retain an attorney
as far as your license goes, if you had a valid license but did not have in on your person when you were stopped, but you can prove and provide it to your attorney, this charge may be dismissed.
This will not be reported to the Insurance company as it will not be on your driving record, if you retain an attorney to handle.
I hope this helps.

Don't listen to people who are still covered under their parents' insurance, they have no idea what's going on.
Insurance companies, especially P&C carriers, run your DMV report upon every renewal. They're very aware of your driving history, that's how they establish rates.
To answer your question : Yes, the insurance company will know.

Depends upon the state. In OK, it's usually 11 over before points accumulate. In MO is 5 over.
