Because:
a) there is no lock on a woman's uterus if she doens't have money
b) uneducated people don't always know about birth control
c) people with low incomes might not BUY birth control because it is expensive
d) we live in a free country where the choice to get pregnant is NOT regulated
e) many people don't get pregnant by choice when they are in that situation and abortion is NOT an option for everyone
IF YOU don't agree with this situation, there are a few things you can do:
a) get active with an organization that TEACHES birth control and sex ed to undereducated, poor communities so that you can help those that can't afford kids understand how to stop from getting pregnant
b) get involved in your state and federal politics - help change the welfare laws in your community. But remember - if you think poor people don't have a right to FEED their children - it's the CHILDREN who lose out.
You don't have the right to say if a child should or should not have been born. That's a really rotten thing to say, because every child has a chance to do something great - and something that might make YOUR life better. What are YOU doing to better someone else's life?

I'm torn. I don't think it's the children's fault. However, there should be steps which limit the amount to which taxplayers are subjected. For example, if you have a child and go on welfare, you should not be allowed to receive additional income for subsequent children.
My best friend has three children. They are on WIC. In my mind, I think, well, why did she have her third (there's a big space between the second and third). I don't think the child should be punished; however, there need to be consequences. Perhaps if you're on welface/assistence for more than a certain amount of time, any subsequent children are taken in by the state.
I'm not sure. All I know is that most people on welfare aren't cheating the system; but the one's who are, aredoing it to such an extent that it's completely despicable.
My husband and I took the necessary precautions to ensure that we were ready to care for a child before we brought one into the world.

Laziness; it's nothing more than that. I have had TWO unplanned children while I was on birth control. I was on low-dose methods both time which obviously weren't strong enough. I didn't march my a$$ down to the welfare office to collect everything I could. My fiance put in more time at work. I started to budget a lot better. Our youngest will be 3 in April and we're still doing it without welfare. Matter of fact, I just went back to work 6 months ago. I got to stay home with my kids until they were 27 and 15 months. Not too bad for someone who was as prepared for a baby as new Orleans was prepared for Katrina. I agree with you though. Why should we have to pay for lazy people?

Well if they can't pay their bills they probably can't afford birth control. But as far as taxpayers paying for things, it's not really the kid's fault that their parents had them. So they deserve food and medical care. I think this country needs to focus more on getting people jobs and getting them off welfare though.

Some people get pregnant and have children and are completely financially stable. Then some horrible life crisis happens that forces them to ask for help. I agree that there are people who abuse the system, but there are also people who are trying very hard to get back on their feet after experiencing difficulties--death of a spouse or loved one, illness, etc. It's important to keep an open mind because you never know when you'll be the next one needing help.

I think that people have their child because they don't believe in killing innocent children even though they still will be if they can't feed it. ALSO FOR ALL THE GOLD DIGGERS OUT THERE they think that they can use the child for welfare(food stamps)so they can sell it for regular money or to get there baby father back because the guy told her to keep it and when she had it he wound up leaving her any way and for your other question I think all kids should be able to experience life but only if the parent has only good intentions for the child.

I agree. Considering how accessable birth controll is, it makes me sick the amount of people that have "oops es". I strongly believe that the older you are the stupider you have to be to have an oops... I don't mind that our taxes go for the kids health care and their food because it wasn't the kids fault. I do wish the parents were some how made to pay back the money. Or were forced to go on birth controll.

You know what I hate? People like YOU who have to start a debate on something like this that is designed for advice, not debate. You just want attention, apparently. Does putting down others make you feel better about your own life? For one, birth control doesn't always work. Life is not black and white. And you can't force someone to have an abortion just because they can't afford a child. This is America, not China! Secondly, financial problems aren't always present at the time of conception. Life isn't always pretty. People lose their jobs. Things happen. And some women have to quit their job to stay home with the child. Not everyone can afford child care. And not everyone has someone who will babysit for free. The problem with our country isn't people having babies. Our problem is ignorant people like you.

The children that are born of this situation could not chose their parents. The hopes in supporting these families, is that those in this situation grow to be productive members of their communities.
If we don't, will they jack my groceries, car, or money without this aid? Plausible I believe. If some people didn't have the little bit of help we have for them now, it could and would come to this to provide for a small child in need.

Some people do not use good judement. Though you can't reverse the process, you can only be as picky as your options:
1) Leave the parents to their own devices. let another child be born in poverty and without health coverage.
2) Try to assist the child with basic necessities
