I'm thinking the palm is considered to be the front. You have the "back of the hand" and the "palm".

Have you ever noticed when someone gives another person the "back of the hand" it's always the "other" side? When I was younger and my mom asked to see my clean hands, I showed the palm first, then she would ask me to turn them over to show her the back.

Hmmmm....interesting question! ;-)

The palm is the front; the other side is the back.

Say for example you said to your friend, "Look at my hand", typically would you show them your palm or the other side? If your answer was your palm, then I've answered your question. If not, well then, I'm sorry I can't help you with that.

Well, beings as you can BACKHAND someone, or give them the BACK OF YOUR HAND, I'd say the front is the palm side.

I'd say the front of your hand is your palm. If you "know something like the back of your hand," you aren't generally talking about the palm :-)

Well... when the "other side" is used to slap or to play tennis - it is called a back-hand... but when people refer to your palm, they generally talk about the "inside" of your hand... I consider my bitty with the nails stuck to it the top... the bitty at the front of my fingers the "front" and my palm the inside... hohoho... (hand stretched out with the palm up...) Cookie???

when i walk, or sit my hand that you see if the front. that side has the nails.

The palm is the other side of your hand, the one you read as a palm reader

The side with the nails is the "front" of your hand. There really isn't a "front" and "back". Your palm side is called your underhand.
