I think Jesus sought them out as well... he dined at their homes.

The Pharisees were a prominent religious sect of Judaism existing in the first century C.E. According to some scholars, the name literally means “Separated Ones; Separatists,” probably referring to separation from Gentiles. They based themselves on man made traditions and on the Sabbath.
When Jesus came and did everything according to his Father's (Jehovah God) principles which did not follow the ways of their sects, they acted with selfish pride. They prided themselves on being righteous (actually, self-righteous) and looked down on the common people. (Lu 18:11, 12; Joh 7:47-49). They loved money (Lu 16:14) and desired prominence and flattering titles (Mt 23:6, 7; Lu 11:43).
Now ask yourself, have you ever met a person that was incredibly full of themselves and wanted to be known as the best? How did they act when their position was changing and people noticed somebody else? They would sometimes get jealous and, even if it meant making a fool of themselves, they would do whatever they could to bring the other person down.
The Pharisees acted the same way towards Jesus. They felt their position was being threatened and they reacted foolishly. That's why John the Baptizer called them in Matthew 3: 7 "offsprings of vipers."

The Pharisee's arent exactly following Him its Jesus that has gone into the Temple and have corrected them on their teachings. They are teaching the people falsely and Jesus tells them so, and also tells them they have brought shame upon the House of the Lord buy making it like a swap meet, thats when Jesus dumps all the tables over, and puts the Pharisee's in their place and in doing so, it made them mad, thats why they wanted Jesus arrested.

There are alot of people that I see that love to find fault in people. The Pharisees were just trying to find something wrong with Jesus. Like walking more than 200 steps on the Sabbath day would get you stoned. They were so anal.

Because they want to catch Him mess up so they can steal the people's attention and respect from Him back unto them again. They had lost sight of God and fallen in love with the power, so when God came to Earth and dwelled among them they were blind to see Him and could only see their own loss of power over the people.

This new guy on the block, named Jesus, was causing an uproar.

They felt threatened because he was referred to as "the king of the jews" by many. They were afraid of the Roman govt taking away their privledges (sp?) and possibly expelling them.
This was also the fulfillment of scriptural prophesy.

jealous of His influence with the people. They couldn't find anything wrong with Him so they kept trying to trap Him.
