just be honest, tell him you can't recall how long it has been and if you can offer an estimate. tell him what kept you from confessions and go through what your heart wants you to confess. i know it is awkward, it happened to me a few years ago when i found my way back to the church but once you do it you'll forget why you were even worried/nervous etc. if you want you can generalise some things etc if you are embarrased etc.....for example sexual sins you could say you have sinned carnally and that would include whatever it is wrong you have done in that nature etc. hope it goes well and god bless.

Just say "a long time". If he asks for more than that tell the truth. What would be the point of lying in confession?

The Bible states that if you confess your sins to the Father (The Lord) he will forgive you instantly! Why bother going to a priest as he has no power to forgive any one.

Confess to your Father in heaven and ask forgiveness in Christ's name.

Otherwise you are wasting your time and breathe.

Tell him you wont be back anymore that you know another who you can confess your sins to who can actually forgive you.. And that is JESUS..

JESUS is the only one who can forgive and HE is the only one you have to confess to..
