Yes, children do not have to resemble their immediate family members. They can even take after their grans parents, aunts, uncles or someone down the line. When I was in high school, my boyfriend at the time had red hair and everyone called him Red, but he did not resemble anyone in his home. His mom later discovered that he resembled one of their relatives, red hair and all.

a new birth certificate would be issued in the case of most adoptions, with the name of the adoptive parents listed instead of the birth parents. Perhaps you have recessive genes that other people in your family do not show. Do you look like your grandparents did when they were young, your aunts/uncles or cousins?

Yes, it is possible ... You could look more like extended family members.... look for even small traits ...

Also, when a child is adopted, a new birth certificate is issued with the adoptive parents listed as the birth parents. Just FYI

It happens. Sometimes, there is a strong resemblance to someone from a previous generation. Sometimes, there is an honest mixup in the hospital nursery. Sometimes, the mother is pregnant by someone other than her husband, and her husband accepted the child as his own. You can have a dna test done if you really want to know for sure what the reason is.

But no matter what, these are your true parents, and they love you as their own.

Yes, it is very normal. I bet you have other similar characteristics, like a personality trait, or your laugh, your love of science or your handwriting. They are many, many possible outcomes when you mix 2 sets of DNA together.

look for family traits that may show themselves in other family members. you may not look totally like mom or dad but may have such a good combination of both that you are unique. or you are the milkmans baby and your mom didn't have the heart to tell your dad.
