Pyridostigmine Hcl. Produced in Amsterdam. Not approved by the FDA. The intended effect was to shorten the space between the axion and dendrites in your nevers (synapse), allowing your nerves to fire and carry information that much faster. The only "side effects" I experienced was mild gas.
Essentially, it was a pill form of the 2Pam Sodium Chloride and Atropine auto injectors we were all required to carry in case of a nerve agent attack.

Pyridostigmine bromide, or PB, was given to the troops (even though it was not licensed by the FDA) because it was the only medication available to protect humans against soman, a deadly nerve agent known to be present in the Gulf Region before and during the war.

A study released by the Pentagon by the RAND Corporation won't rule out a possible connection between PB and undiagnosed illnesses reported by thousands of Gulf War veterans. According to RAND, conditions such as heat and stress -- health factors during Desert Storm -- may cause the brain to absorb larger amounts of PB. This, in turn, may lead to PB affecting acetylcholine, a nerve-signaling chemical that regulates sleep, pain, mood, muscle function and thinking.

That is the big question; where did they come from?

I had a sleeve from one of the packets in my possession for years. It had a name with about 18 letters in it. I wish I could find it tonight. I used to keep it in my desk and look up the name every so often. I never got an internet hit for it. So I just don't know.

I took all those pills and never had any side effects. (That I know of.)
