keep your training time short and sweet not for any longer then about 15 minutes, a new dog or puppy doesn't have a long attention span. always do it in a quiet place. not a place with toys and other animals around.... give the dog time to calm down, then start the training, older dogs can handle longer training time

How old is Rockey?
Take him to a quiet room by himself and use some yummy treat like cheese or vienna sausages (just small amounts). I guarantee you will have his attention.
Look up clicker training...there are lots of good sights. It really helps the dogs focus and they all love the clicker game.

My dog is occasionally the same way, doesn't concentrate when I train her and my other dog comes around and wants attention at the same time. What I do is elimiate all distractions (TV, Radio, other people, etc.) and try to go into a good room. Also bring treats with you. Try to keep session to a 10 min. minimum and don't repeat yourself over and over and over again. Try to say it twice and if that does not work give your dog a break and try again later.

You need to take them both for a romp in the park or yard or at least a fast paced walk and THEN seperate them so you can work on training.
Your dog needs to get rid of some pent up energy before he can concentrate and the best way to do that is to let him have some fun before he has to get down to buisness.Obviously,he associates fun with your other dog and not you.

seperate them until you rtraining is done, put the other dog outside,in a bed room, closet, bathroom then take the one that you want to train for a walk to the mail box or something so it will take there mind off the other one and have plenty of treats on hand
Good Luck training your dog

Try training him in a quiet empty room with distractions- just you and the dog. If it still doesn't work, try leaving him in that room alone so he gets bored of it, then come back and he might pay more attention to you and not whats around him. It worked for me. Good luck

when you are trainning your dog have a leash on him so when you he is not listening tug the leash and say "NO" and just keep doing that when he doesnt listen because he will learn and dont praise him if he does something wrong because them he will think he his doing something right.
