I bought a 5 inch panosonic plasma hdtv today and after purchasing it and wheeling it to my taho, We realized it didnt fit!! , the box said that it must be transported upright and not on its back, but we had no choice, this is my only car and for the 15 minute ride home the box was on its back. Can this damage the T.V?? In what way can it damage it? thanx in advance

You are probably already watching TV by now.
TV boxes have most of the styrofoam to protect them during shipping at the bottom and top. There is almost no protection in the back or front. So, if you carry it sitting on its front, you may break or scratch the panel.
If you carry it on its back, you may scratch the back. However, a short ride home should be OK. Enjoy your new TV.

the reason they say to transport it upright is just to keep it from breaking. if it is going into your car it will not hurt it if it is on its back.
