First, "bad eyesight" is a wide-ranging term. If you are near-sighted (myopic), meaning that it's difficult to see things that are far away, then your treatment options include glasses, contacts, laser vision correction (LASIK) or some other surgical solution. If you are far-sighted (hyperopic), meaning that you can't clearly focus on things that are very close to you, then, again, glasses or laser correction are options. If you have some other vision-distorting condition, such as glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, corneal ulcers and so on, then the treatment could consist of prescription drugs, surgery, lasers, and so on. The point is, it really depends on what is causing your "bad eyesight". It's also important to note just what you consider "bad eyesight" to be; for some people, anything less than crystal-clear vision is "bad", whereas for some others, it's only "bad" when they can no longer see things in dark rooms, etc. More than anything else, you can't really "cure" bad eyesight. It's not a disease (although some diseases can affect vision), but rather it's a condition caused by one or more physical factors; it's the treatment, correction and management of these factors that restores your vision to a level where you feel it's no longer "bad".

Hi There

Here is an herb formula I used to fix my eyesite. It took some time (7 months) and effort, but it was worth it.

DR. CHRISTOPHER'S COMBINATIONS CONTAINING EYEBRIGHT

The Eyebright Combination, as related above, features Eyebright. It also contains bayberry as an astringent; oak bark can also be used, although it is somewhat stronger and harsher. It contains golden seal, which is often included with Eyebright to enhance its action, red raspberry leaves, and Cayenne. People may wonder about the use of Cayenne in an eye formula! It greatly enhances the action of the herb, and does the patient no harm. Dr. Christopher humorously related the story of a student of his who became an herbal lecturer and who, in a program preceding Dr. Christopher, threw Cayenne directly into his eye. The eye only became brighter.

This Eyebright Combination is prepared in infusion and allowed to sit until cool or cold. Strain very well into an eyecup and place over eye, tilting the head back and leaving the eye open so that the herbal infusion covers the eye. Exercise the eye, looking into the eyecup. Many people do this once daily, but in acute cases it may be done several times a day, oftener than hourly if desired. Tea left in the teapot should be strained and taken internally.

Today Eyebright still enjoys its reputation for visual problems. Dr. Dorothy Shepherd, the New Zealand herbalist who did so much to promote the popular use of Comfrey, cites many case histories where prolonged use of Eyebright lotion produced successful results in the treatment of various eye conditions. She also found the herb to be effective in the treatment of measles and relieving the eye soreness associated therewith.
It is useful in cases of conjunctivitis, the malady where the eyes exude white matter which often causes the eyelids to stick together with a smarting and almost unbearable irritation. An infusion of the herb, one ounce to the pint of water, poured on boiling and allowed to steep until cold, then strained, provides an excellent and effective lotion for this malady. The eyes should be bathed three or four times a day. The liquid should be well strained, perhaps through a cloth, so that no particles enter the eye. Whenever sticky mucus fogs the eyes, Eyebright will help clear it.

The herb is also used in cases of glaucoma, where the eye becomes progressively coated with a filmy substance. It is applied the same way. However, by using the Christopher Eyebright Combination, the healing continues much more quickly, as the other herbs complement and facilitate the action of the Eyebright; the Cayenne especially helps in this condition to clear the glaucoma.

Cataracts are disorders of the eye where the lens becomes opaque, like a frosted window glass. The cells are not growing abnormally, as in a cancer, but seem to be dying off and turning white in the process. This happens especially in older people, called senile cataract, although it does occur in younger people. These are also cleared by the use of the Eyebright lotion or the Eyebright Combination. A Dr. Sydenstricker of the University of Georgia proved that Vitamin B-2 therapy helps people who are threatened with cataracts. He first tried using Vitamin A on 47 patients suffering with eye ailments, 18 of them with opacities which indicated the formation of a cataract, and six of whom had fully developed cataracts. The Vitamin A did not substantially help the 47 patients.

However, all of them improved dramatically after 15 milligrams of B-2 was added; the improvement was noted within twenty-four hours. In almost every case, the burning sensation and other symptoms such as itching, general eye weakness, and faulty vision began to disappear. Those showing little improvement at first did improve during the following twenty-four hours. After nine months of using B-2, cataracts were reabsorbed and the patients eyes became perfectly normal.

Best of health to you

Glasses are only a correctional aid. The only real "cure" to date is having laser surgery to correct the problems in the eye itself. It's an expensive proposition, not often covered by insurance, and may not restore vision completely to 20/20 in some cases.

Vitamin A will help bad eyesight to some degree, but please take it with a good multi-vitamin AND research the dose thoroughly, it can be toxic if you take too much.

My eye doctor told me to hold a pencil in front of my face at arms lenght. Focus on the wording and slowly pull the pencil closer to you face. When it is too close that you have to be cross eyed to see, slowly pull the pencil away again, focusing on the wording. This forces the muscles in your eyes to strengthen thus enabling better vision.

Depends on how bad the eyes are. In some cases, the eyes cannot be improved at all. See your doctor .

Idiot, you be.

Can't you see?

Bad eyesight? Leave it be.

Make snow-angels on the concrete.

Idiot, you be.

Glasses, you don't need.

Therapist, you must seek.

Then lick my marbles, and say "God Bless Thee."
