Blow it dry using a round brush one section at a time. Keep going back and doing one section at a time. Any moisture left in your hair will frizz. John Frieda hair products work well. If you could take a curling iron (pull the curl out - hence straighten it) or a hair iron would be great. Otherwise use go with the flow and buy a product that will tame down the frizz but give you soft curls (Sally's can recommend a product). Be glad you have thick hair. Most people's hair gets thinner when they become senior citizens.

As weird as it sounds, I quit using shampoo. It did a lot to get rid of frizz and enhance curl. I wash my hair and scalp with a cheaper conditioner, and a more moisturizing one for taking care of curls. I also use a moisturizing curl cream in the winter for hold and frizz prevention from the dry air.

Some of the frizz control products with heavy silicones like cyclopentasiloxane can work in the short term, but they tend to dry your hair out in the long run, causing a cycle of dryness and frizziness.

The website below is full of people just like you. You can get plenty of input from the ladies on the boards there as far as what they do with thick curly hair.

Good luck from a fellow curly!

My Grand-daughters has three types of texture in their hair. The
oldest hair is the longest because she is older (4 years old and the
the other one is only a year old). Anyways her hair is long and
curly and when she takes a shower we put of course shampoo
then, we condition it, we use more then we would use on our selves, because of the fact that her hair is different then ours. When she gets out of the shower we dry her hair we put BB Hair
Lotion rub it in her hair. We use a comb that has a two way comb
like a pick and a regular comb. One side is to comb out the tangles ( the pick side) that is the side you use first and the other
side is the side is to use when you want to use when you want
a pony tail and you only comb the top portion. to smooth out the
top part. Once you combed out your tangles you can scrounge
up your hair to bring out your curls while it is still wet, cause wet
is better. And as it dries with this Hair lotion it will still look sort of wet. And your ready to go.

I have the same thing. First I wash it,then I towel dry it to where its a little damp. After that i scrunch it with my fingers first then add mouse. I dry it on a medium setting. Any of the curls that look bad I put a curling iron to.
