It seems like every time I see a cop they are complete jerks. I know they aren't supposed to be super nice and gentle when they're on the job busting criminals, but can they be anymore of an a-..? Something I also noticed is their tone of voice. They talk to people in a certain tone as if they're overall just better than the people and treats them like retards. I often see this on Cops as well as when I personally experienced talking to one.

The police's past brute actions (e.g. UFC student being mercilessly, needlessly and repeatedly tazered for a lightweight reason.) don't really help lessen this image either.

By the way, I didn't mean to disrespect the police force. It's a very respectable job which involves very serious tasks.

I'm just wondering why a lot of the cops I see are so rude.

@onefivejesus - What exactly did he do to deserve the excessive amount of tazering, let alone a bullet according to your (though one-sided) logic? He questioned them at first, but he said that he would go with them after he was tazed. The only reason he wasn't able to stand up because he was being repeatedly tazed and then resulted in not being able to stand up at all.

@D.B. Cooper - I never based this on "all" of the police force. I never said that. I said most of the cops I see are like this.. There is a difference.

Umm.. no.. I didn't get a "speeding ticket". Hell, I don't even have a license, I just turned 16. I have experience talking to a cop because I see them patroling our HS.

It's ironic how people will assume that I have been arrested before but bash on me when they *think* I assume "all cops are bad".

You people seem to exaggerate the meaning of the word "most". If you look in the dictionary you will find out that it does not mean "all", just an ample sum.

Yes, I do respect the police for what they are doing putting their lives on the line everyday. No I didn't forget that they are also people. You just simply miss the point of the topic.

Thank you all for your opinions, flames, and everything else. Even if you were being a little one-sided and hypocritical. =P

Must have been an expensive ticket.
You should just pay it and ask for traffic school.

Edit: Oh, you're only 16 - well, that sort of explains your attitude. Once you've had a real job, and had to exist for awhile in the real world, you will gain a different perspective.
I talk to people in a certain tone, because it is the best way to secure compliance. If that tone offends you, all I can say is I am doing my job. I have to keep the citizens I serve, myself, and the person I am arresting safe. Sometimes that means using a different tone of voice than I might use if I were asking you to please pass the butter. It isn't being better or being arrogant, it is asserting control. And some people act very retarded, or they will deliberately refuse to obey a lawful order. A lawful order is where I ask you to exit your car, or sit on the curb, or stand back from what I am doing. Some people just have to challenge or fight authority. I have to answer that challenge by keeping order and keeping myself and my partner safe.
And what you consider a lightweight reason for tazing that "student," I consider an officer safety concern.
By the way, if you want decent responses to your question, don't begin your question by calling police officers "douche bags." My skin is pretty thick, but I still find that term ugly and disrespectful. I sincerely doubt that you would ever say it to my face.

Police officers are not rude and they do not act like they are better than anyone else. My father was an officer for 30 years and treated people with the utmost respect. Given there are some jerks out there, but there are jerks in every profession. I mean have you ever been to a MCDonald's where the employees are excited to be there? Didn't think so. Police officers are trained to distance themselves from people. They are supposed to stand tall above the crowd. They are figureheads that the public is supposed to look up to. Give the cops a chance!

Because when you are on the street you don't know who you are encountering. You have to be tough and rigid. A cop must sieze control of the situtation and never let go of that control. Because if that reason, is why cops seem rude. We don't know who we are going to interact with, good guy or criminal. So everyone must be treated the same to ensure safety. A cops only concern is going home at night, being nice is a distant second.

Listen I'll tell you why cops are like that, because stupid *** people make them that way. They have to put up with people lies, fights, spitting, drunks, and people shitting on themselves. They have to answer calls about brutally on babies and women, they go to accidents where people are mangled and mutilated. They are physically attacked and cursed at on a daily basis. People call them pigs and Nazi's, except when someone is breaking in to your house, or raping your wife. Then is yes sir, and please help. Cops are abused and underpaid, and hey if they get a little carried away once in a while SO WHAT! They are only human. Instead of being part of the problem be a part of the solution, support you local Police Departments, volunteer to work with teenagers, do something instead of just complaining!

First, lets define just what a douche bag is designed to do. It was designed to be a device that is used to flush out toxins & debris from the body cavities of humans, thus allowing a potentially dangerous "substance" to be removed & the quality of life restored to the individual using the douche bag device. It is also known as an enema bag. Knowing this, I'd think that anyone calling someone a douche bag, would only just be acknowledging the simple fact that they are just doing their jobs. What makes an enema go smoothly & work properly?...would depend on how the person getting it reacted to the person who was giving it!...if you get my drift!

Insecure, vindictive and morally bankrupt people become cops.

are you going to your job in a good everyday? are you super nice to EVERYBODY you encounter?

every single cop i dealt with was nice and correct to me. plus most of the times you deal with somebody in the police force, you have done something wrong and got busted for it. that already puts you in a pissy mood, and if the cop does something you don't like, you automaticly switch to "all bad cop" mood.

if they would talk all nice and in a sweet voice to you, i don't think that they would be taken seriously.
so the next time, be nice to the cop and just accept that you've done something you were not suppose to and everybodys day will be better...

and no, i am not a cop

Well,if you dont do anything wrong I guess you dont have to worry about the cops do you???Why is it that douche bags like you like to call a handful of cops that were bad and then steretype them all? Most cops are pretty good people,I am a truck driver and deal with them on a everyday basis and it seems that they are like most people..,treat them how you would like to be treated and you wont have anything to worry about. An as far as that young puke from Ca that got tazed...he deserved what he got.You dont listen when a cop tells you to do something..,thats the price you pay.Why do uneducated morons run the cops down??Because they dont have repsect for anyone or anything.Bottom line right????
