Dump Cake
Ingredients
1 18.25-ouncePackage yellow cake mix
1 15-ounceCan crushed pineapple
1 16.5-ounceCan pitted dark sweet cherries
1/2 cupButter
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350 F. Dump pineapple and cherries into a greased 9-by-13-inch baking pan and mix together. Top with cake mix and dot with butter over mix. Bake for 45 minutes or until brown and bubbling. Remove and serve warm or cold.

1 can cherry pie filling
1 box yellow cake mix
1 can crushed pineapple
1/2 c. butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 13x9x2-
inch baking dish. Dump pineapple with juice and cake mix in next, spreading evenly in the pan. Cut
butter into pats and arrange on top of cake mixture. Bake for 1 hour

Yes and it's so good and easy to make! You need a box of yellow or white cake a can of pineapple chunks or crushed a can of cherry pie filling and about a stick of butter. Grease your pan and dump the pineapple then the cherry pie filling in the pan. Here I give the pan a shake to settle things down. Top with the cake mix sprinkling it evenly over the fruit. Dot the top of the cake mix with the butter and bake in a 350 degree oven until brown and bubbly.

DUMP CAKE

Pumpkin Crunch Dump Cake
1- 15 ounce can pumpkin
1- 12 ounce can evaporated milk
3 eggs
1 teaspoon nutmeg*
1/2 teaspoon ginger*
1/2 teaspoon cloves*
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
----
1- 18.25 ounce yellow cake mix
1 cup walnuts
3/4 cup or 1-1/2 sticks butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 9x13 pan. Completely combine 1st set of ingredients. Pour into prepared pan. Sprinkle with cake mix. Gently pat down with spoon. Sprinkle with nuts. Drizzle with butter. Bake 50 minutes. Cool and cut in squares.
* Or use 4 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice or Mixed Spice.

Yes, it's called a dump cake because you just dump the ingredients into the cake pan in a specific order and don't mix them up.
Sorry though, I can't find my recipe right now, but I know ther's a packaged cake mix and usually a tin of fruit or a tin of fruit pie filling...

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup shortening
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 large eggs
Easy Caramel Icing, below
PREPARATION:
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add shortening, milk, and vanilla; beat on slow to medium speed of electric mixer for 2 minutes. Scrape sides and bottom of mixing bowl several times.Beat in eggs and continue to beat for 2 minutes longer. Spoon batter into a generously greased and floured 9x13x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool and frost with caramel icing (below) or cream cheese icing.
Easy Caramel Icing
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, milk, and butter. Stirring constantly; bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Let cool to lukewarm. Beat until creamy and thick enough to spread. If too thick, add a little more milk or a small amount of cream.

I've heard of and made johnny (journey) cakes made of corn meal, but not just regular wheat flour. I've made hardtack out of flour.
