Patrick , my young friend this is the truest and saddest of things that have happened to our great country . People have forgotten that the rights they have are defended every day by the men and women of the armed services . The ethics of our past have been forgotten to be replaced by a belief that if we leave it alone it won't bother us . 9/11 reminded some people , but apparently not everyone . We , as service members must not expect recognition however , its our job to serve . I know sometimes it would be great to have everyone recognize us , but its not the crowds I appreciate the most . Its when a single person says thank you . Thats who we are fighting for , thats who we defend , not the crowds but every single individual that makes up this country . Some people don't like us . Some people don't like the war , and since we are part of it they look upon us badly . Its the job we have though , and love us or hate us , we defend them all .
Army Pride , Army Strong , Army Always ... Hooah !!!!

Let me appoligize now, this may be a long answer hehe
I want to thank you for your service sir. I come from a long military line and I know it takes a lot of personal sacrifice to put your self in harms way as you do.
As for your question, it is unfortunate that a few loud mouth bigots have become the "voice of the people". And they spout this bile against our service men and women, which makes it appear that Americans dislike service men. What they say is 100% untrue.
The vast Majority of People I know and talk to all support the troops even if they don't necessarily believe in the reasons for the conflict we are currently engaged in.
For some reason this idea that if America stopped having a military presence then the whole world would break out in to peace has persisted for going on 40 years. There is an idea that some how America is responsible for all the global woes. And that by being patriotic, by backing up that system, that government, you are an obstacle in them reaching this global peace.
They see you as their enemy; they see you as the line that must be broken to achieve their own goals so that they can have a Moral victory over the "war mongers" and "profiteers".
It is a sad state of affairs when brave men and women have to suffer because a small band of loud mouths feel it necessary to prove that some how they are smarter than the rest of us.
You and your Brothers (and sisters) in arms continue to fight the good fight. There will always be those of us who support you and Back you and believe in you.

There are many individuals who can not distinguish between politics and the military. On top of that you have all kinds of video footage of everything that is happening over there, blow by blow and death by death. People eventually become somewhat desensitized to the deaths and what our troops are going through. They just see a conflict that keeps on continuing, but not the true results. People are also always seeing the negative things some of our troops are doing, but hardly seeing the wonderful things our troops do for the people all the time. What can I say "Bad news sells" and the troops suffer for the actions of a few. I could go on and on, but won't.
For what it is worth.. I do appreciate each and every one of the men and women who have served and are serving.
Let me also share this. I was at a restaurant with some of the guys I work with. We had just finished eating and were waiting on our checks. The waitress came over and told us our check had already been paid. An old man and his wife were there and the man got up and came over and said he just wanted to do something for us and he appreciate us greatly. He said God bless you all. He spoke for a bit and we thanked him and he left shortly after. There were around 15 of us there and it touched us all.
Don't worry about the ones who don't care. They are a smaller group than you think. They just have really BIG MOUTHS.
God Bless and have a Merry Christmas

Sadly, the blame falls on the Peace movement in the 60s and to this date, the American serviceman is held under scorn by some of our own countrymen.
However, there is still a large number of Americans that still hold our men and women in the military to high esteem; I should know, I an a soldier myself and the people that live and work in my community (Ocala, FL) have always been supportive of me and my fellow soldiers; they hold us to a very high level of respect and appreciation.
Is sad that not everyone feels the same way.

Unfortunately people think it's cool to be anti-war right now. It's the "popular" thing to do and since soldiers represent the military and war, their ignorance is passed on to you. Don't let them get to you. Any smart person respects you for doing what others are too scared to do, whether or not they believe in the war. Thank you for your service and have a Merry Christmas!

There are many more opiniated people making war sound like a bad thing (which it is). But the country and the president, can't let people push us around...that's how we became the country we are was by not backing down when someone was trying to take over. During WWII my great-grandma threw away anything that said it was made in Japan because of the war.

If you think it is bad now, you should talk to a few Vietnam Veterans. The situation is a lot better now and I'm happy things are getting better. It's really sad when people are not intelligent enough to understand that the military only does what the politicians dictate. I appreciate all military people and pray for them. Semper Fi !

in case you study his books you may see that he's conscious of worry-unfastened people extra powerful than you think of. He chosen to bypass up a great intense paying occupation he could have had as a acceptable graduate of Harvard regulation college so he could desire to help worry-unfastened undesirable people in Chicago. he's been paying off college loans up till some years in the past basically like worry-unfastened people. He could no longer have adequate money to purchase his very own residence till he replaced into 40. no longer precisely an elitist. So do no longer basically pay attention to rubbish. discover out approximately him.

Hi Patrick - First and for most, Thank you honey for giving your life to keep us safe. I appreciate you and your parents for your sacrifice!
I always thank a Veteran or a Soldier in any uniform for the same.
I believe in today's society, most people get caught up in their own personal drama and forget about our freedom rights and how wonderful the United States is and that it is this way because of people like you who stand up for his country. Thank you again honey and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

I don't know its sad. My hubby has had packages that I send him ripped open and stolen from, to just recently I made him a lot of Christmas cookies since he won't be able to home and the side of the box was ripped open and all the cookies and pastries were all smashed to crumbs. This only happens when I send my hubby packages and not when I send packages to other civilians.
Merry Christmas.
