I've never use Window media to burn anything but i guess the burn speed setting is somewhere on the Tools section. Or you can read the Help file in the window media screen : Click Help, select Window Media Player help. The link to download WMP 11 is here : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en&qstechnology=

To change the Burning speed:

If you click on the "Burn" tab on Windows Media Player, the screen will come up like normal. Now just move the pointer over towards the right side. Theres 4 icons about an inch and a half down from the "x" to close the window. Click on the farthest one to the left, it looks like a sheet of paper with a red check mark. It will bring up another window. Under the "recording" tab, there will be 2 drop down menus. One will be where the cd image is stored, the other will be what you need. It might be set up at "Fastest". Click and drag the recording speed down. Just guess and check to see if it will burn cds. The slower the speed the longer the time it will take to burn the cd.

For an updated version of WMP:

You can just download the newer versions of WMP at the windows site, here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx

You should be able to upgrade it directly from Microsoft's website.
