yeah, coke and meat rocks!
I also do a pork roast in Dr Pepper, not diet, orig, which with 1 envelope of onion soup mix is great! this is in a slow cooker
My mother does a ham cooked in two or three cups of Schweppes Golden ginger ale and a bit of dry mustard, this is amazing, not too sweet and makes a lovely glaze on the ham...
I have a recipe for a coke chocolate cake as well...
I am a little addicted, what can I say?

I like to use a bottle of good red wine, even Plum wine is a good flavor. Depending on how many steaks you are preparing, you don't need to use the whole bottle. Drink a glass or two while your preparing the marinade. I add crushed garlic, ground Italian seasoning, summer savory leaves, olive oil, and course ground black pepper. Put all ingredients into a plastic bag, shake to mix well, add your steak or steaks, close the bag tightly and put in the fridge for no less than 8 hours. I turn mine occasionally to make sure the marinade gets all thru the meat.If you like, save some of the marinade to brush on your steaks while they are on the grille. I'm not an exact measure type of person, I go by taste and smell. If you like, I could email you the approximate measurements. xxx

okay this is not a recipe using either coke or ketchup but here's my FAVORITE marinade recipe that I always use when preparing grilled tri-tip:
Marinade recipe:
1/4 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. olive oil
2 Tbsp. water
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped (i usually add 1 or two more cuz i love garlic)
ground black pepper (to taste)
add 4 lbs. tri tip cut into 1 inch slices (or any kind of steak that you bought)
This recipe is sooo delicious, I always get great reviews from my friends and family when I make it for them. Ditch the ketchup and coke recipe!:)

I assume its the same one used for roast beef.
I can coke (can substitute beer - which I prefer)
I envelope onion soup mix (get one without msg - no headaches)
I small botttle ketchup.
Mix and pour/baste. Yum. Good with onions with the meat.
I use it to make a roast. Pour over roast and onions, cover and bake a couple of hours. Remove, slice roast, stick slices back into juice and bake uncovered till its soft. OOOOOOhhhhh. Can put a bit of cornstarch or flour into juices (mix flour or cornstarch with a bit of cold water first so it doesnt just lump up) to thicken for gravy.
