I have 2 children, 2 1/2 Years old and 10 months old that'll both be sleeping before we even leave the house and will probably sleep through the night. I hired my cousin to babysit. I have to pick her up and drop her off, she is also spending the night. How mush do you think is a resonable rate to pay her?

Ok, she is 17 years old and I will definatly pick up some munchies and a few videos for her. My husband and I were thinking of paying her about $65 for the night. Money is always tight around the hollidays and we have to take into consideration the we have to pick her up and bring her home and she live like 45 minutes away. But she's worth it. so $65 - $70 ???

I would have to say about $10 per hour. I mean, if they are already sleeping it shouldnt be too hard of a job.

If I was the person hiring you, I would pay you normally per hour but give you an additional $25 as a "holiday bonus". Honestly, since you're 14 I wouldn't give you much more because I would think to myself "not like she had any parties to go to and her parents probably appreciate the fact that she's inside somewhere, not running around." However if you were 17+ I would probably give you anywhere from $40 - 60 depending on how much I valued your service. I would feel bad about you having to be in working on such a fun holiday.

Regardless if she is sleeping over, if she is your cousin etc. She is missing out on New Years eve with her family and friends. If you were asked to work on a day like that, what would you expect?
I would have plenty of yummy treats for her to eat, rent some movies that you know she would like (ask ahead of time) and pay her double what you would normally pay.
Pay her from the time you leave to the time you get back even if the children are sleeping the whole time.

The last time I sat on NYE was back in the early 90's and the parents were more than willing to pay $50 per child for the night and that included most of the day after (for recovery), so I can only imagine was it would cost now...

i work for a professional babysitting company, and for the three children I will be sitting, ages 1-7, the parents will be paying me $21 dollars an hr. This is in San Diego. I will be getting $17.50 per hr of that amount. Just to let you know what you'd be paying if u were to hire someone !

Don't think too much about money in this case. It's New Years Eve and your children's safety is first, Make sure to get a professional person to babysit. If your cousin is, pay her well. You'll never regret and she'll be thankful for a long time.

Twice as much as the normal rate. So if it's 10 per hour for one or two kids. Give them 20 per hour.
Might also depend on the age and temperment. Like if the kids are already asleep by the time parents leave, all the sitter does is...sit...and watch tv. Check on the kids. Hope they dont wake up :)

You are questioning youre own childrens worth there.
How much do you think youre childrens safety is worth eh?
My serious suggestion is to ask her how much she would like for letting you out for the night as she stays there and protects them for you on the most fantastic night of the year.
Then double it.
Do this and gain a babysitter and FRIEND for life.
Make her happy.
Merry christmas.

$50 at least!
Its New Years Eve! I know I would rather be doing something else with my friends or family, so you have to be a bit more generous than usual with the pay.
Hope it all works out!

depends
is she old enough to be out partying and is missing that because she is babysitting for you - then atleast $50.
Is she young and would be sitting home anyway - then $25.
