I am trying to find a Church that doesnt make me wanna hurl chunks. I am impressed with Emergent, but its not a Church and my wife's college is going to require her to go. My background is pentecostal, but my thinking has shifted. I want to be a Christ Follower, but I cantt handle any more pro-war, we love Bush, America is Gods Nation bullshit anymore. Are there no Churches out there that follow Christ and take a stand against the crap that is spewed forth by the religious right. I mean come on there is more to life than:

Vote Republican
Drive an SUV
Gay people
Abortion.

I am a true Christian lost in the quagmire of todays so called Churchianity

I hear what you are saying, you might try a non-denominational church, they seem to stay closer to the word from the Bible, but there will always be personalities and agendas wherever you go,just try to stick to the basics and keep sharing your faith the way you just did brother Merry Christmas

United Methodist are more leftish than rightish. Don't let go of the emergent quite yet. Some home churches are affiliated with more "traditional" churches, and that may meet your requirements. It's a shame too, because some 9% of Christians attend or visit these churches each week. Time for some awareness on the part of the larger established denominations. There are some smaller non-denoms out there as well that are simply great, loved filled gatherings of believers. Maybe one of these will work. God bless and direct your path.

I'm gay, politically leftish and Christian and I like most United Methodist Churches pretty well.

Many UM churches are open to LGBT folks and are more socially active. They are not all though, so you want to check out each congregation.

United Church of Christ would be another good option for you.

God bless you!

i in my opinion wish that what happened interior the final election, that maximum Christians backed Bush, won't repeat itself. i ask your self how those Christians sense now that Bush has shown himself to be cheating and unethical. Has no longer this shown that balloting by using fact the candidate belongs to a undeniable faith, creates serious issues. If the subsequent President isn't elected by using fact he/she is uncomplicated, ethical, non-biased, non-racist, non prejudicial then usa is in for subject. usa have lost the honor of tens of millions by using fact of Bush and his dishonesty and it is going to take somebody with integrity, capability, and all of the factors reported above, to hold American decrease back to the capability it had till now Bush grew to grow to be President. President Bush is an occasion of balloting for the religion, over the guy, actual would not paintings. It did no longer paintings final time and it particularly won't paintings lower back. truthfully the training discovered via the dishonesty of this government, will function a reminder that this time, it must be completed appropriate.

I truly would not recommend the Methodist church. have you checked the church of Christ. they seem to be a quiet Conservative non political church, but you may find a different story when you check them.
