I picked her up yesterday afternoon. she got it done on the 20th in the morning. shes a small jack russell terrier mix. They told me to try to keep her from jumping and to help her up places, well there are times when she will get down on her own and when she goes to jump back up i hear her yelping, i know she is in pain, is there anything i can do to make her feel more comfortable. i keep everything really quiet and calm, she still wants her belly to be rubbed so i rub the top part where she wont get tensed up. i just feel so bad for her, its hurts me to see her hurting. anything would be great. thanks

thanks everyone, i made her a spot on my bed since she always sleeps with me, where shes surrounded by pillows, and since the doggy stairs were suggested, i got a stool from my mom that she would use to get in her bed, they were little stairs since her bed is so tall, definently going to use those to help her on the couch. thanks for all the great suggestions, if shes still in pain in the morning alot, im going to call the vet before they close for the holidays. thanks everyone. Happy Holidays

That is so sad! I would make her a nice soft bed on the floor full of her toys. She will be ok in a couple of days =0)

The vet should have given you some pain killers. If he didn't, call him to get some, and then explain to him the importance of controlling pain in pets post-surgery!
I suggest putting things on top of your couch, bed, and anywhere else she might jump onto, to keep her from jumping and hurting herself. She should feel better in a few days, but it really is cruel if the vet didn't give pain killers.

Dog Bones! Make a cozy little area for your terrior to lay down, drink water, eat, and chew a bone. Make the bone have some meat in it so she is very attracted to the taste and won't focus on anything else... like her incision. Make her "rest" area near a place where you spend most of your time, like in the family room or computer room so the dog doesn't have to get up from her place to see you. (Dogs go crazy being left alone without their owners.) That pretty much covers it! Happy Holidays.

She yelps because it is stretching the suture line when she jumps up. Buy some doggy steps. Good luck.

make her a "nest" with blankets and try to keep her calm and laying down. i know that with all of my dogs, i would sit in my room(or what ever room she's in) and she would know where i was and would sleep. if she's in excessive pain, the vet can prescribe some low dose pain killers. i hope she feels better soon!

Well, you could provide everything she needs within reach for her and you could always watch a movie with her and while your at it rub her tummy more.
