keep asking the same questions over and over....as if their question is new and the Bible has never been examined and disected and studied by people of all walks of life? I'll bet many have been asking the same questions for ten years (or more). Why don't they go find out the answers through real study instead of asking questions in jest? They take bits of truth to make a greater lie. Here's a revelation: you don't have to know ALL the answers to know the TRUTH. Don't let unimportant questions (i.e: when was Jesus born?) keep you from the message that He was born and He came to us. The New Testament is simply a contiuation of the Old Testment. They do not conflict each other.

The fact that Jesus has always dominated and influenced the thoughts and actions of society is indication of His power and impact. Why not focus on Him and see the answers you WILL find. He will change your life....if you let Him.

The Darth Vader point is inane because he hasn't been around for 2,000 years. Talk to me again in 4,006 and let's see if folks know his name.

Yes, Elton is a (ahem) HOMOSEXUAL, but you're the one who pointed that out. Most of the Christians I know (myself included) don't care about his sexual orientation.

The God of Testament #1 also showed love and fogiveness. No judgement He gave was unfair. The God of Testament #2 did likewise. They are the same.

You're correct: Nonbeliever is inapporperiate as it implies the person has no beliefs. NonChrisitan would be better.

I do not believe my wording was condescending; at least it wasn't intended that way.

I ask questions to find out what other people besides the people I know think and believe. I constantly get biased opinions. Athiests are foolish enough to think that when you die you just die and thats it and there is nothing more to life and will criticize you for thinking otherwise. Christians are so full of themselves and don't want to hear any other thoughts or opinions from anyone else. They have to quote a book that was written by man nearly 2000 years ago. I am irreligious, but curious to find some information and by quoting something that means nothing to me...means nothing to me. I have read the bible and find zero point to it. I want to know what other people get out of it and not quote it with some jibberish that means nothing to me. Maybe I missed something in it. I'd like to find out. I cross my fingers and hope that someone will answer something with intelligence and I will be able to gather any tid bit of info. Something based on facts. I guess it's false hope to want that but I keep trying.

And thanks for wording your question condescendingly. You are a reason why someone like myself can't get any answers and are left with nothing to believe. Pompous people like yourself think you know everything and look down on people who don't believe what you believe. Maybe you should kill yourself and find out the truth that way.

How do you expect to get a persons trust or respect when you undermine their truth, their being by dismissing their entire integrity referring to them as a NON-BELIEVER. There must be a kindler, gentler term i.e. 'Reform Christian', 'Uncommitted Jesuit' or ??? I do not think fundamentalist Christians understand some key elements.

1 - As I'm imagine you know? Catholics are Christians too but they do not evangelize and engage in all kinds of pagan rituals. Most non believers see either the POPE or Pat Robertson and nothing in between. 2 - Jews are insulted right from the start because they are being told their bible, their book of life is an OLD TESTAMENT. To Jews it is THE TESTAMENT so it is hugely demeaning and insulting... perhaps if you called their book THE TESTAMENT and you called your new testament Jesus's Testament it would make a real difference. 3 - The over and over you speak of? the Christain rap is repetitive as well....

....the ONLY WAY to get going is the Mother Theresa and Salvation Army way. DO YOUR JOB AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH unless a door is opened one to one. Spreading pamphlets and spewing dogma rarely works whereas kindness and good listening to a persons needs works wonders... a person wants/needs to be heard. When I worked with the Salvation Army for a few months back around 1994 I met the most gracious people who used their personal time or their vacation time to visit disaster sites and work for the Salvation Army for the inner satisfaction you would not get going to Disneyworld or on some cruise... and they made a real difference in peoples lives....

.....at the time I was a full blown born again zealot who follow all the fundamentalist jargon to the LETTER. I remember asking at the dinner table with several people "what church do you go to?" and they were all matured and kind of laughed (not AT me) and brushed it of as in why? it doesnt matter and that was the point at which I became a truly spiritual being who KNEW for certain he was on the right path and 12 years later I am still secure in my faith and not on the fence with regards to my religion and I DO affect peoples lives both in and out of the religious life.

No offense meant, but Darth Vader has also had a strong impact on popular culture and society.

You must also put your intolerance behind you and unite with your fellow humans, so that acceptance and peace can be introduced into our society. It matters not whether you are atheist or not, black or white, boy or girl, young or old. You are special and unique in your own way, and the life of a human is too precious to not join in a peaceful and tolerant society.

Why do so many Christians keep using the word nonbelievers even when they're asked not to and continually with the same questions over and over again?

"They do not conflict each other?"

As put by Richard Dawkins in his book, "The God Delusion", "The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misgynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

However, the God in the New Testament is presented as a loving, jolly-fun guy.

Quite frankly, don't you find it kind of odd that God is obsessed with watching as many people as he can, in our most private moments of life (somehow, all of us)? In America, that would put Yahweh in prison.

you would be able to think of that's extraordinary for non believers to no longer have faith in god, yet that's in basic terms considering you likely have been taught from an early age approximately god. in case you particularly think of roughly it, If somebody the place again as much as you for the 1st time and inform you with reference to the bible once you the place 18, there is no way you have faith. This and the lack of ability of knowledge.

Example please? I don't see anything reflecting what you say. I see lots of christians asking "Why are there still apes?" "Why do atheists celebrate Christmas?" (We don't) "Why do atheists come to R&S?". But not the other way around.

Perhaps I'm forgetting that I inhabit earth and you spend a lot of your time in one of those virtual worlds, "God land", or whatever. It's different here.

And Crypt, isn't Elton John a well-known (ahem) HOMOSEXUAL?

Same with religious folks...

Most common questions include..

"Why do atheists hate God so much?"

Atheists don't hate God. They just prefer science to spirituality.

"Is there evidence for evolution?"

Aww, come on! Almost everyone on Yahoo! Answers has taken Biology at some point in their life...right?

"Let's send all the non-believers to concentration camps!"

Just kidding. I hope noone really asks that...

The actions of "jesus" do not prove his impact and power. It just shows that most people are terrified of life, and need a crutch to keep themselves tethered to meaning full existence. When in truth the religious tyrant does nothing but make you a slave to your own fears. Try using your brains... everyone... seriously...

The fact that Mithras, Dionysos, Attis, Krishna, Horus, and many other deities have always dominated the story of Jesus is indication of their power in impact, then.
