I have 3 little kids who are not very responsible when it comes to keeping CDs scratch free. So I am wanting to burn the dvd movies for the car rides, so if they get ruined, we have another movie left over as the origional. My only problem is finding a program online to do this. Are there any programs that I can BitTorrent or Limewire that will allow me to burn a complete copy of the DVDs? Thanks in advance.

And I know someone sarcastic will say, "Teach them to take better care of them, " or "Just dont take the movies with you..." so if you are going to answer, please be seirous.

And I always rate the best answers...so you will be rewarded. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas

Here are the tools I use to copy DVDS for my own personal back ups. I know some folks do not trust some sites due to all the junk spyware out there and virus stuff. But look at my answer history, you will see that I can be trusted. D/load the free protection I recomend. I trust the programs I mention below and use them. I also believe in try before you buy.

http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html......... - DVD Shrink Freeware will copy most DVDs but there are some it will not copy.

http://www.slysoft.com/?aid=50549.......... - AnyDVD and CloneDVD
These 2 programs are great, 21 day free trial, and I have them both. AnyDVD and CloneDVD they will take off encryption and protection.
Just bought An American Haunting and DVD Shrink would not copy it, but these 2 programs no problem. Have not had any movie yet they could not copy.

Good question. I use two tools. I will forewarn you that these are Windows tools.

The first problem with DvD's is that first they have encryption, and second that they may also have copy protection. The tool I use to defeat this is Slysoft's AnyDvD. What AnyDvD does is sit in the tray and defeat the copyprotection and encryption, so that other DvD tools can do the other things you want to do. It's a commercial product, but relatively inexpensive. (under $50) They also have a CloneDvD product, but I'd recommend instead that you use the free program DvDShrink.

The thing to realize about commercial DvD's is that they often have more data on them then you can backup to a commercial RW DvD. Typically, there are a lot of things on these DvD's that you don't actually want -- multiple languages, director's commentary tracks, promo's & Trailers etc. I put the originals in my library but as for my kids, they want a simple DvD that they can pop in and watch. This is where DvDShrink is great, as it allows you to pick just the elements you want, and to remaster the entire DvD to something simpler. It's donationware, and costs nothing. It skirts the issues in regards to decryption (illegal here in the states thanks to the DMCA) because it doesn't include the DvD decryption facilities. DvD decryption was broken by the infamous Decss program, but commercial products here in the states were put out of business by the movie studios, using the DMCA. Luckily not every country has the assinine laws ours does, and companies like slysoft thrive off shores, supporting people who simply want to make a copy of a movie they purchased for their own archive.

I use these same tools along with a few others I've found to do things like extract movies from DvD and store them on my harddrive, move them to my Tivo Series II (where they play perfectly) or remaster them to mpg4 format so I can transfer them to my Ipod 60 gig. This has been great on trips as my 4 year old has been easily entertained watching one of her favorite movies on a few long plane rides. I bought a pair of wrap around headphones I plugin for her.

Hopefully this provides a few ideas for you.

The best is slysoft anydvd and clonedvd, you can rip and burn a dvd backup with all the menus and features in less than an hour or 40min, and if it's really encrypted then use
css+region free this can unlock the protection if anydvd cant unlock it. Go to Slysoft for a free trial.

You most likely will not be punished if you are using them for your own use, and even if you distribute them online or to a couple friends, the likelyhood of you getting caught is low. I had Apollo DVD Copy or something, but now I have AoA Ripping

DVD Shrink is great for making back up DVDs. You can get it at
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ and it is for free.

Now you do need something like Nero to burn it to disc
