is charles shaw good wine, good quality, pricey? My boyfriends sister brought some over and went on and on about how expensive it was and how pricey and how it was so great but she was sure we wouldn't like it, oh and about how it was "imported" straight from cali lol lol any way yea i was just wondering if she was braggin about something she didn't know about or if she was correct thnx!

the reds are better than the whites. I personally think they are crap. To me the 2 buck chuck tastes like a water down version of whatever the wine is, be it chardonnay, shiraz or merlot. Shiraz is the best if I had to pick one.
If I were given a glass of shiraz at a bbq party or something I would drink it. but it is not something I go out of my way for at TJs.
Fred Franzia the owner has this things about making wine affordable for people so that they will try it. In my mind it is a total gimmick. Which works. so kudos to him. Be aware that this wine is also sold under different brands at grocery stores called Sea Ridge. and I think J Morris. all the same stuff.

I actually did an experiment with friends at a wine and cheese party. We bought one "two-buck-Chuck" from Charles Shaw. We bought a $10 bottle of wine and a $20 bottle of wine. Then we poured it into tiny glasses and asked people to guess the prices. On average, they guessed that the Charles Shaw was a $5 bottle of wine, and the other two were both rated much higher. Do your boyfriend's sister was either pulling your leg, or she really got ripped off!

Have you ever heard of three-buck Chuck? Pay a visit to the nearest Trader Joes and find cases and cases of the very inexpensive, but good, Charles Shaw. Your boyfriend's sis was putting on quite a show.

2 buck chuck... my boyfriend drinks it all the time. he says its good for the price but like i said it's 2 buck chuck.
