Dry / moist in regards to wine deals with the amount of sugar in wine. A dry wine is not sweet at all.

Dry wines is suppose to refer to the residual sugar level of the wine. The "drier" a wine is is suppose to be indicative of less residual sugar. Although this is not really true considering the fact that almost all wines have no residual natural sugars (as it turns to alcohol in fermentation) what people think of as sugars are really the taste of the ripened fruit.

It's not the same definition of dry that means lacking moisture.

It means having a low residual sugar content because of decomposition of sugar during fermentation.

In other words, dry wine is not very sweet. More bitter or tart.

I'm not sure why the dry term is used, but a dry wine is more sour instead of sweet.

Becouse the grapes that make the wine are called white DRY grapes. There for it makes White dry wine.

Some wines have a "sweet" taste--they may taste almost like fruit juice. but others don't have that seet taste--and by tradition these are called "dry."

dry wines make you pucker,,,,,,, I LOVE THAT, and they have less sugar. Nothing like a full bodied dry red wine.
