I know when i had my kids i turned into a cranky hormonal b*tch when i was tired. The pups are 9 weeks old now and probably quite a handfull for her. Maybe she just needs some space for now and once you get the pups rehomed, try rebonding with her. Take her to the vet once they open just to make sure there isnt anything else wrong, she may just need a good multi vitamin to replace what the pups have taken out. Keep being kind to her so shes not completely alienated by you.

ISHe may be having a sezuire. or shecould simply just be cold or nervous. or she could even have gotton an infection. I would call a vet that handles emergencys ( i know thats wrong sorry) You could aslo trying your normal vet they may be closed for the holidays but they may also have an emergancy number you can call. With the vets by where i live if ylou call the vet's office after they close it directs t you to an operator type thing and you tell them what going on and they call the vet and then have the vet call you back. Good luck i hope that helps you out.Merry Christmas

the vets all have emergency phone numbers.I don't mean to be nosy but has she been to the vet since her pups were born.?Maybe that has something to do with it. I would definitely call you vet ...if not your vet a vet that gives an emergency #.She could be diabetic. I would do that a.s.a.p. It's better to be safe than sorry. And they are just like babies they can't tell you what's wrong so you have to do what you can to figure it out. Even if it means calling the vet around Christmas. Its their job they love animals they will not be mad. you first priority is the health and well being of your baby. Believe me they will understand your concern. If they blow you off call another and another until you can help her get better.Good luck and merry christmas.

This could be behavioral or a medical problem. All dogs vary in how protective they are of puppies. It is very possible this could be a medical problem like an infection from having had puppies. You can take her temperature just like you would a baby's with a rectal thermometer (you may need someone to give you a hand and hold her still). Normal dog temperature is 101 degrees to 102.5 degrees. If there is any colored or abnormal discharge from her vulva or she is running a fever take her to an emergency vet hospital Immediately! (check your local yellow pages)

The puppies are 9 weeks old. They should be moving around. And you should be holding them. You want them to be use to being handled. Poms are nervous dogs. This could be the problem. Did you have a book on delivering and raising puppies? They have a few scare weeks where the puppies have to be kept very quiet. I'm sure the Mom needs you to be very quiet when you go in and visit and you should stay low, not stand over her and her puppy's. That would be threatening to her. Is she being feed properly so her puppy's are being feed. The mother dog will eat 5 times as much when they are nursing their young. Is she hungry? Does she need fluid? Concern your self with her needs not yours.

It is natural protective behavior over the young. Don't try to lift her because she might think you will take away or hurt her puppies. So I think its mostly protective instinct and maybe because this is her first litter(?). You should never ever feed a dog sugary treats. Anyway, just so you know, table scraps as daily food for a dog is very bad for them.

She maybe sick you can look in the phonebook for around the clock 24 hr vets. Or she maybe having more puppies. Or she may have been abused before you got her someone may have hit her again and she may have gone into shock. if so just be gentle and calm around her. or thier maybe something with the fact that your worried about her so that makes her worried too.

well that is strange. She might have had nightmare about her past. that is what happened to my Friend's dog. the same thing without the puppies though. but she only eats human food? no dog food? that could be part of the problem. or she might be scared to leave her puppies. or that they are going to be hurt.

The vet ASAP they can get allergic reactions but they can also be poisoned by insect sprays. Take the insect spray with you so the vet can see what he's had. Phone the vet first for advice but I think they'll want to see him/her. Good luck... hope everything is ok

She is probably feeling (definitely) protective of her young.
Let it be as soon as the puppies are old enough they will run around and you can be with your dog. Until then be kind and patient
