I run for at east 1 hour every day, I do strength training for upper and lower body every other day. I can (still!) run a 5 minute mile in workout stuff, perhaps a bit slower in uniform with a full Sam Browne (35 lbs worth of gear). If you are planning to out-run me; I have a radio, and lots of co-workers who like to run, too. :D

And we have at least 1 Olympic runner on our department, she won a Bronze in one of the 1990's Olympics, I think we have another, male, he was in the last Summer Olympics, not sure if he is still with the Department.

The older guys are able to outrun the younger wanna-be "gangstas" while wearing their utility belt, which has a firearm, two handcuffs, mace, a radio, and baton, and some of them have a taser attached at the hip.

I'd say they can all run pretty fast. Usually you can see them in action on Cops, right after the suspect jumps out of his car, running down the street.

[ADDED] If you're asking about the K-9 units, I'm sure they're good for about 40+ when sprinting.

Different officers mean different styles. Younger officers tend to run after suspects and veteran officers tend to chase suspects in their cars first. Some officers believe in just working of physical strength while others believe in endurance. Every exercise would be completed by some officer somewhere. But for the most part, we do not go out and time ourselves on the 100m. And no matter what 9 out of 10 times the suspect cannot outrun the radio or k-9.

Ok with every cop its different it depends on your area and when i do it. If u do it during a cops late shift they cannot run as long and far since they have been eating to much donuts. In the police academy they do stamina excericies that test them. If u get a cop right in the middle of his shift it is the hardest they run for a long time and very fast. hope that helps.

You obviously didn't think the question through. Policemen are individuals and have individual characteristics. If you're lucky you get a cop that loves Dunkin' Donuts chasing you. If not you will get a cop that is probably in better than average shape and can run fast.

i can inform you that isn't 18 mph in complete equipment! That equals 60/18 = 3.33 miles consistent with minute - nicely ahead of the international-record %. for the single mile run. considering I have not have been given any authentic information to apply, i'm going to easily make some up to your homework project: protection guards are frequently wannabe law enforcement officials. They run approximately 5 mph. law enforcement officials are slightly forward at 6 mph. Firemen, the main greater healthful, run 10 mph.

It depends on the officer, but I can say that most are in excellent shape. For example: I am an ex track runner: 400M to 5k, and still run in my free time. I would most likely catch them. Also its not the cop one would have to outrun, its the radio, and i gaurentee a person won't outrun that.

Cops are all aliens, they mostly look the same and they are stronger and faster than a normal human being, they have futuristic gadgets like magic flying machines and have eyes everywhere. they can run for about a week without getting worn out or thirsty, they only eat sheep and they only sleep standing up. they drive round in strange cars with lights on to warn us to run away from them, and they have 'CELLS' where they put humans to feed of there anger and do experiments on them like put 'TAGS' on there legs. BEWARE THE POLICE! THEY WILL GET YOU IF THEY CAN!!! RRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

They don't have to run these days. Each individual, UK citizen, is captured on CCTV over 300 times a day in the UK alone. I have never seen an officer running in the past twenty years, let alone sitting a record!!!.
