This can be a commons sign of anemia. On the other hand if you are absolutley unable to go w/out ice/water (for a period of time..like a few hours) it could be a sign of something else. This is worthy of following up w/ your family practice doc.

You should consult your doctor. I had a friend that was also addicted to eating ice. Every 10 or so minutes, he would open the freezer and take a few cubes of ice to eat. The doctor said he had a high chance of getting diabetic.
If you are overweight, this is a possibilty. Or maybe you should try drinking more water to quench your thirst.

Either you have nothing to eat or you forgot to type the word " cream" after ice. You can stop eating it if you move to Europe where in some places the temperature is below -30 degree. I bet you would quit eating ice my friend.

wow, lots of, um, interesting answers. You might be addicted to the cool sensation it gives you when consuming it, if this is the case then you should probably try and get yourself off this. If you're pregnant, it's excusable as a craving, but just try cold water and see if that substitutes enough.

Wow. Thats different.
Try and go a week without and and maybe you will get over it. Substitute it with something different like chewing gum or mints or something. If you cant get over the ice...see a professional about it!
