its jsut a regular house phone

A brand new one, they recommend 24 hours, to start with. Then I don't know what the recommended time after you have them a while.
Our portable phones usually charge up in just 4 or 5 hours when they go completely dead. Well, not completely dead, actually, it is when it says low battery. You can still talk on it, but not for long.

a full charge takes 10 to 11 hours some phones onley require 8 hours u will need to check you manual

That depends on the type of battery you have. Check your manual. It could be anywhere from 1 to 8 hours.
