Certain things about them make you believe they don't have much money. They are buying Christmas gifts for kids (you assume they are for thier own kids). When the woman goes to pay you notice several small things in her purse that they are not paying for and a new toy sticking out of the mans back pocket (still in the package). Do you:

1. Call security
2. Ask to see a recipt for the items in the purse and the man's pocket.
3. Let them go.

Though its wrong to steal i'd let them go. Unfortunately not everyone can afford to give there children a good Christmas yet they don't have good morals so that is the only solution they see.

What a tough call......my head says call security but my heart says let them go.

I would probably ask to see the receipt and give them a chance to make good .

I see your point its hard. I would go with two because if you let them go and some other employee notices then you would probley get fired. I know that its hard because you want to be nice but thats againist the law and they can not get away with that.

Where I work, the policy is to not confront the shoplifters. Call security w/ a description of the shoplifters.

do whatever your store manager has told you to do. Don't risk your job and your integrity over petty theft.
