Join an organization or club of an activitiy that you enjoy and meet new friends. As you meet new friends you will forget that you hate where you are.

I've been in that exact situation.
Luckily, after about a month, some really cool people were nice to me and I made so many friends that year.

You deal with it untill you can move again. I spent 2 yrs living in hell otherwise known as Pittsburgh, until I was able to move again.
