Mathematically, "less than or smaller than 3".

If you're getting it from someone in - or at end of message - it's an 'emoticon'/'smiley'. Probably a heart - especially if (he/)she is chatting u up!

Try www.noslang.com (I think) for explanations of the symbols. Most comps send the 'image'/'pic', now, but if you're not both in synch, you just get the actual keystrokes the symbol is based on.

I think it is a heart... it's like :) which is of course the smiley face...everything is just sideways...apperantly that is how we should look at the computer...
