Depends on the man. some of them will never be respectful to women, because they were either raised badly or have personal issues regarding the opposite sex.
Some ground rules are only common sense:
1)Never jump into bed right away with a man. make sure you get to know him first no matter how open minded he claims to be.
2)Never agree to go on a date on a moment's notice. Plans must be made at least a few days in advance. When he calls u last moment it means that you are the last resort and his other plans did not work out for him.
3)Never see him "late night", if he calls your cell at 2 or 3 in the morning, it means that he was out trying to score and failed, so you are plan B.
4)Never negotiate your identity, you are who you are and although in a serious relationship compromise is a must, you always have to be as honest as you can so there will be no surprises later. He should love you for who you are, because you LOVE YOURSELF.
5)Never ever try to change any man. He is who he is, and that is that. "Respect is earned. not given". If someone does not treat you with the respect and courtesy and manners you deserve than find someone else.
6)Last but not least. FIRST YOU MUST RESPECT YOURSELF.
Good luck, Happy Holidays.

To get a mans respect is the Right man....If you do not have the respect of your man, then he is not the one for you.

You have to give respect to get a man's (or anyone's) respect. If you think he doesn't respect you and you can't figure out why or he won't tell you, move on. Life is too short to waste your time trying to change him. It doesn't happen.

First you must respect yourself. Then you must show respect to others. You get back generally, what you give. Respect is earned, not just given.

Ask pay for dinner or drinks when you go out once in a while... chances are he will refuse if he's a real man, but he will respect the offer...

I think the biggest mistake a girl can make with a guy is thinking that they will only like her if she puts out. Guys respect girls that are different. No guy wants the run-of-the-mill sl ut. He wants someone intelligent, interesting, and that respects herself. The best way to gain a guy's respect is to prove to him you deserve it. Just remember that while guys will date sl uts, they marry the ones who aren't.

"Voilá! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

Whatever you do, don't act like a subservient little girlfriend. Nobody can take that. Everyone respects a confident lass.
