They are probably not bad as an occasional treat. Some cats get turned on to tuna and other fish that they won't eat anything else.

Any canned meat that humans consume does not contain taurine which is an essential amino acid for the cat. They cannot make it in their bodies as humans and dogs can. Absence of taurine in the diet can lead to blindness or heart problems in cats. Taurine is added to all commercial cat foods because it is the cooking that destroys the taurine. It isn't added to human food.

i share sardines in oil, bacon, ham, spam, hotdogs, etc. with my cat occasionally (not regularly) getting down on the floor at cat level and just having a kitty cat good time (the wife thinks i'm wierd, but y'know we only go around once so they say, so why not enjoy life, eh?) the cat likes the together time, and i've caught my wife chatting with the cat too and sharing bits of food from time to time.

I would think it would be fine, but you may want to wash off some of the oil to keep the cats from getting sick, I have given it to my cat and he is still kicken, he is 7 now
