ID is a failed legal strategy to promote the teaching of creationism in science classes. It was soundly defeated in Kitzmiller vs. Dover this year.

Intelligent Design is a generic term for Creationism, without the blatantly Biblical references that seem to freak out the non-Christians. I am glad to see ID out in the scientific community, because it gives recognition to the idea that evolution is not the only theory out there and gets people thinking about a Supreme Being.

i wouldn't say that ID is "biblical". It is a little broader in definition and theory than "creationism". The way I learned creationism, it coincides with the Christian biblical account of creation, God creating the earth, night/day, plants, animals, people, etc.
ID, on the other hand merely says, that yes, there is SOME higher order or being that is responsible in some manner for the existance of the earth.

Not necessarily. Intelligent Design could technically suggest our species was genetically engineered by aliens. But most often, ID relies on stories about unprovable, invisible deities logically thinking about creating us and then it happening. I don't know about anyone else - but I just have a real hard time believing deity looks and thinks just like us, which makes me scoff at both ID and creationism. I'd be more likely to believe (if I had to believe in ID) that we were genetically engineered by aliens because it's more fun.

There's no difference between the two. They meant the same thing and both scientifically and biblically. When you talk about intelligence it meant scientific know how, and when you talk about creation it envolve intelligence. Don't you think?

Um... ID is biblical. Creationism is theism.

ID is about the whole "young Earth" nonsense and Creationism is just that a god has created the universe.

Of course. Intelligent Design is just Biblical creationism in disguise. You never hear the ID proponents say "Well, we're Christians, but it's possible that some OTHER god did the designing" -- They don't think that's possible. They think THEIR god did it, no one else. That's why it's Biblical.

it quite is a tad cheating that evolutionary theories are allowed to evolve, however the comparable possibility isn't given to identity theories. all of us understand that Darwinian evolution has had to be frequently dropped, yet some point out the unique identity ideals having replaced through fact the mid 1900s, suggesting that it relatively is by some potential cheating!!! Oh nicely, i opt to propose the e book under through fact it replaced into written via a logician, Antony Flew, who replaced into an ardent atheist in that era, writing a admired essay in 1950 noted as "Theology and Falsification". For forty years he replaced into proudly hailed via atheists as their spokesperson. till he grew to grow to be a Christian. It replaced into identity that swung it for him. Do study his e book and locate out why. i think of a significant distinction between identity and Creationism is the latter's call for that six 24-hour earth days must be the time-shrink for all creation happening, via God. i do no longer think of identity places a time constraint on activities, in spite of the shown fact that it additionally insists that God created this universe, planet and all existence on it - and not via twist of destiny the two.

A federal judge ruled that ID is creationism with the name changed. I'll go with that.

Yes. The former is a political agenda. The latter is a religious belief.
