You probably won't even notice the difference on a 32" tv or less. Remember that it doesn't matter what resolution your tv can display or the resolution of an upconvert player, normal dvds are mastered only at 480p. Take your favorite dvd to the store and put it in a progressive and upconvert player to compare. I have an upconvert dvd player and it does look a little bit better than my progressive scan player but it maybe because it's a higher quality player and i had it connect to my tv with HDMI.

I recommend you save your money and buy the cheapest DVD player with component video out. 90% of the DVD players use the same DVD chip from MediaTek. Progressive out is now almost free.

The max resolution of a DVD movie is 480 lines. The native resolution of your TV is 720 lines. Either your DVD player will scale up or your TV. Most HDTVs have better scalers/deinterlacers than progressive DVD players, so let your TV do all the scaling/deinterlacing and save your money.

So here are two scenarios
a) DVD (480i -> 480p -> 720p) -> TV (DVD 720p -> TV 720p)
(The TV may need to do some minor scaling to compensate for overscan/underscan, etc.)

b) DVD 480i -> TV (480i->720p)

Method b) uses only one scaler (the TVs) so you will probably less artifacts and better picture.

nicely, the two can play dvd's jst the comparable. a classic DVD participant will jst play dvds, cds an such. A dvd recorder can do the comparable as a classic DVD participant yet in addition reproduction dvds for u,,u can watch something on television an record it to the dvd so u can view it later. the greater suitable selection is a dvd recorder because it has greater concepts with it and if u ever ought to record something u can accomplish that. If u dunt record lots off television den a VCR wud be fantastic thats if u have one..if no longer den maby the recorder is a greater suitable option for you. value smart i think of there iz vast distinction buh im useful it has dropped or quickly at the same time as through new exciting blue ray which has come out.
