Aren't you very happy that "thou shalt not lie to thouselves" is not one of God's commandments?

I'm happy it's not, because if it weren't for being honest with myself, I would still believe in God.

Then you should be jumping up and down, in ecstatic glee at the thought of "slipping one past" the thou shalt not's. Don't forget, lying to ones self goes both ways.

assphincter says "what?"

exactly!

1 Corintians:

Chapter 1:
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
26 Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
27 Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
28 and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something,
29 so that no human being might boast before God.

Chapter 2
14 Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually.

Chapter 3
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the eyes of God, for it is written: "He catches the wise in their own ruses,"
20 and again: "The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain."

I would rather be foolish in the eyes of man than God.

You're going to have better luck asking silt if it has common sense. And jesus is not the reason for the season. The reason for the season is the pagan holiday of YULE, primarily a norse tradition, if i'm not mistaken. All major holidays were stolen by christians to lessen the sway of the original meaning.

Common sense is not very common after all...Some people look at a starry night every evening and says "it's all made by nothing.'
So much for common sense.

forever Mark.....

Why do you judge the tree from a sample of rotted fruit that fell off?

Common sense, according to most, is relative. So, what may be common sense here, could be foolishness elsewhere. My sense tells me that there is more to life than living, reproducing and dying. I choose not to derive any superiority from my views. I just share them and let the chips fall where they may.

It is so much easier to go around, calling people idiots, than to sit down and be honest with yourself and admit that you don't have a clue.

You don't need to convince me of anything. I'm pretty secure in my beliefs. I think you are the one with questions.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

I have come to realizes that some questions on here, doesn't even desire an answer. As Brother Paul the Apostle Paul, says... If they want to be ignorant, let them be ignorant.

you condemn christians as ignorant but you say you are engaged to one. does that mean that you and your fiance are also ignorant? and the bible does not say "thou shall not lie to thouselves" thouselves is not even a word. God awaits for your acceptance. He still loves you.

Whose common sense? Yours? Who is to determine this "common sense?" I listen to God, he listens to me, I don't need anything else. All human beings lie to themselves, God gave us that right. He loves us all, regardless, even you.

actually no...

You shall have no other Gods before me.

You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s."
