No.... the Catholic church did not and does not keep scriptures from us. The Da Vinci Code is fiction. The story was so well written and the movie was so well acted out, makes it easy for people who have a hard time distinguishing between reality and fiction to believe the story to be true. The scriptures are not watered down. There are only different translations into modern day language. The scriptures are not changed, nor has any been taken out, or added.

How are you being tortured by a book that the author admits is fiction? I think that one of the problems is that the Catholic Church treated the publishing of the book as a big problem and as such, it was given even more exposure by the press. There are many other pieces of literature written by early Christians that were not selected by the Catholic Church for inclusion in the Bible. They are a available on the web. The Catholic Church decided much of what would go into the bible at the Council of Trent. You can read about it from either the viewpoint of your church or from the viewpoint of historians. This is also available on the Internet. I don't now specifically what you are talking about in terms of the bible being watered down. The Bible was written in Greek and Hebrew. Biblical scholars are continually debating just how it should be translated. We have no original copies of the Bible to rely on to begin with. Some of the books of the Bible have been copied thousands of times by scribes. What we have are copies of the copies that scribes copied over and over again through the centuries.

Who says the scriptures keep getting watered down? Can you support that with data?

The Da Vinci Code is pure fiction. It's a good read but it's no more factual than Harry Potter.

On the contrary, a lot of new translations offer more insight to what scripture really means. English can't capture all the shades and aspects of all the various connotations that scripture carries in Greek and Hebrew. This is why it's good to compare phrase translations as well as word for word translations.

And the Catholic Church does *not* keep any scriptures from us. In fact it still includes the Deutero Canonical texts, the ones that Protestants refer to as the Apocrypha and have since excluded from their bibles.

Hope that helps, God bless.

All the translations basically reveal the same message.

It is a lie of the devil that people have changed the Word of God / Holy Bible. God has protected the Holy Bible.

One does need to read it with the Spirit of Truth/anointing that is given to everyone born of God. The Spirit of Truth assures in my spirit that the Holy Bible is of God.

The oldest originals we have are Hebrew OT and Greek NT. So, get a Strongs Exhaustive with the dictionary meanings of the Original Hebrew or Greek. There is a Strongs Exhaustive search on line, since some people have answered me with the web site. I don't recall it right now.

I wanted to know the truth, since JWs & Mormons confused me. So, I purchased an Exhaustive years ago, and it helped me understand Gods Truth more clearly. The bible is very well written & doesn't contradict in message.

The DaVinci Code is fiction. Well written, an excellent book, but Fiction, a story. Just because newer translations choose to water down their version, does not detract from the original version. Your belief should not change just because of a newer, more "modern" version of an ancient truth.

The further we get from the original the less likely we will understand what as originally intended to be said. It is not only a matter of different words - the original was written in a different society with different problems. An accurate translation is inadequate - we need to understand the background. After many centuries that is incredibly difficult.

The Bible is not the sole sacred Scriptures. God always sends down the New City, the New Holy Book, at the due time. Any man who interests in knowing and submitting to His Will, never misses the chance.
Each individual soul is responsible for his own choice to tread or not to tread the spiritual path.

Less than one percent of the teachings of Jesus are contained in the Bible. Yes, there were scriptures hidden in secret. Mostly the gospel of Mary Magdalene and the gospel of Judas and any scripture where Jesus speaks about reincarnation and how he admitted to traveling to Persia (ancient Iran) to study Zoroastrianism (especially Fire Worship which he disdained) and to India to study Yoga and materialization from a Yoga master named 'Manitula'(that's how he materialized bread & fish for the hungry people). He also admitted to studying Buddhism 500 yrs. after it's inception in India. He also knew but never said out loud that He was being guided by His Father in Heaven( Hermes, the Greek God of Love & Prosperity(2300 b.c.) who was the earlier incarnation and brother soul of the founder of Buddhism, Guatama Siddhartha(Shakyamuni Buddha). You see, Buddha and Jesus are very old friends dating back 400 million years ago before the creation of human beings on planet earth. The true spiritual name of Jesus is AMOR and this Great Spirit is originally from the Sagittarius Constellation(star system). He is of the spiritual color of white which stands for love and salvation.
