my boyfriend has been sick since wend. night...at first it was just an upset stomach and diarhea and since then he has started vomiting and refuses to do the "take a sip every 15" it seems like he has been in and out of the bathroom all day today, i know he has thrown up at least once and he says "it feels like im pi$$ing out of my a$$" so now im worried he may be dehydrated, im only 18, and we live alone, and i have no clue waht to do...

he said it feels like his kidneys hurt, and he has a fever of 102.5 but will not go to the dr. I am pregnant, and work 30+ hours a week, and am afraid that if he has the flu i may get it too. any other possiable explinations...or any thing that could help him feel better???

oh this might help...in the past two weeks he's been put on two diffrent antibiotics, one for a throat infection, the other for a sinus infection, could the amount of antibiotics be throwing his body off somehow??? PLEASE HELP!!! thank you

First of all, this is not typical of "flu". Flu is a viral respiratory infection that has a fever, cough, and sore throat. It is impossible to make a diagnosis based on a short description, and he really does need to see a doctor. Some people develop diarrhea after being on antibiotic therapy, so that could be the case. It could also be a bacterial infection liks Salmonella, which will soon pass on its own. It could be something completely different. With the combination of things wrong, he needs to see a doctor.

No matter what is causing his illness, the biggest concern is dehydration. Even if it keeps coming up, he needs to keep drinking. The best thing to drink is somthing like Pedialyte. You can also mix up a simple, cheap, effective version at home with water, salt and sugar (see http://www.rehydrate.org/solutions/homemade.htm#recipes for the recipe). Gatorade or water also work. It may come back up, but he needs to keep drinking.

Whether he sees a doctor or not, do what you need to do to protect yourself. Pregnant women are at higher risk for disease, and you would hate to catch what he has. If you have a second bathroom, use it exclusively, and make him use only the first one. When his illness is over, make him clean it completely with a bleach-containing cleaning product. Wash your hands frequently, especially before eating anything. Don't let him make any food for you until a few days after his illness is over.
