It's much more of an "acceptance" than a "belief". I don't feel the need to believe in the big bang but from what I know, and that isn't a great deal, it seems to be a term which encompasses all the variations of the generally accepted theory of the early stages of the universe.
Then, again, I'm sure atheists also accepted the steady state universe theory when that was the best guess.
As an atheist, I'm allowed to accept one theory today and to change my mind tomorrow if we get new knowledge or a better explanation.

If they do, they can't be atheists..the big Bang theory may be similar to Genesis.
I call myself a Christian but I don't believe in the Big Bang theory...am I an atheist?

I, who just happens to be an atheist, believe in Evolution and needs to learn more about the Big Bang theory before totally accepting it. You could say I'm agnostic about the latter... but I'm sure it's probably the most plausible idea currently.

Because most educated people accept the best-supported theories in science. But feel free not to, or to be so educated in the field that you favor a different theory instead.

I haven't studied cosmology nearly enough to say what I think about the various theories floating around about the origin of the universe.
I just know that any one of those theories is better than the goddidit concept.

Probably because the BBT is often used to explain the source of the universe without bringing in the idea of a creator.

properly technically we don't think in something. i do no longer "have faith" in evolution or the great Bang thought, I basically think of it makes the main clever experience, in terms of explaining specific factors of life. yet you do no longer could desire to consider any considered Atheist. everybody gets stereotyped, if no longer in keeping with religious recommendations, then on something else. that's unavoidable, regrettably.
