I am looking at either buying a 2002 ford Focus. Or a 2000-2001 Toyota Echo.

Any thoughts on which is the better buy and why?

Thanks

Go with the TOYOTA definitely because of their reliability, service, and price. Remember Fords are found on road dead and fixed or repaired daily.

Although I personally wouldn't choose either car for myself, the obvious choice in my opinion is the Toyota Echo.

The Toyota will prove to be 100X more reliable than ANY Ford product, including the Focus, although the Focus is the better looking of the cars.

Play it safe, stick with the Toyota.

Its a valid question only problem is someone driving an Echo will tell you it may be better than an focus and vice vesa.

I have a preference between the two but wont say becauce you really have to find out on your own what suits your requirements, drive both cars and I am sure you will favour one over the other.

go to my webste http://www.usedcartips.org/ and navigate to BEFORE I SHOP and then TEST DRIVE for an understanding how the process buying a car works.

Toyotas are frequently extra reliable and require a procedures a lot less mantanience (in spite of "heavy" or "mild" use), the position Fords, as you experienced, are not as sturdy. also, Toyotas have a larger resale cost, if that's important to you. The $1000 massive difference is negligible compared to the hardship kept. you may also favor to positioned gas mileage into interest; i do not understand the mpg on those fashions, besides the indisputable fact that that's particular that the cumulative massive difference made with the help of gas mileage would quantity to bigger than $1000.

I own a 2000 Focus and have found it to be as reliable as a hammer. Only problem has been the interior panels rattle when it's cold out sometimes. I would say go for the Focus - while they don't hold their resale value, you get a bit more car for your money.
