Heb., na·chash′, tan·nin′, tse′pha‛, tsiph·‛oh·ni′; Gr., o′phis].
A long, scaly, limbless reptile. Serpents travel on their belly or rib cage, and because of the nearness of their head to the ground, their flickering tongue appears to be licking the dust. (Ge 3:14) Over 30 kinds of snakes are found in Israel.
The Hebrew word na·chash′ is evidently a generic, or general, term applying to all snakes or serpentlike creatures, and it is often used along with other Hebrew words that denote a particular kind of snake. (Ps 58:4; 140:3; Pr 23:32)
Satan the Devil. At Revelation 12:9 and 20:2 God’s principal opposer, Satan, is referred to as “the original serpent,” evidently because of his employing the literal serpent in Eden as his means of communication with the woman. (Ge 3:1-15) As “the original serpent,” he is also the progenitor in a spiritual sense of other opposers; hence Jesus’ classification of such ones as “serpents, offspring of vipers.”—Mt 23:33; compare Joh 8:44; 1Jo 3:12.
I hope this helped.

That serpent would be Satan the Devil, whose name means Resister and Opposer. Satan used a serpent to deceive Eve, because of her inexperience. Notice Satan did not go to Adam first. That does not matter now since Adam and Eve died together because of their disobedience in the garden of Eden

The subtle tempter. He may be equated with an "angle of light" spoken of in 2 Cor. 11:14. A beautiful creature, but unlike any other. A form of Satan.

The serpent was the emblem and symbol of Thoth, who was the supreme geneticist and scientist of the Annunaki. It was Thoth who gave the Adamus the ability to think and reason -which in the Bible is mistranslated and oversimplified into their eating an apple and realizing they were naked. If we were to believe the lines of the Bible literally, then it was the serpent who told the truth and God who lied. Taking the "forbidden fruit" did NOT kill Adam and Eve, but gave them intelligence.
