It weakens it. An all volunteer military ensures those in uniform want to be in uniform. It makes for a better military.

If the US wants to continue to have an all volunteer military, they must up the bonuses, greatly reduce the pay and allowances and not keep sending these guys back for a second or third tour in Iraq. Lately, this administration has been misusing the troops. They must use them better and smarter.

relies upon. i'd basically bypass for a draft in a protecting conflict on our land (except they deal with to really convince me a united states of america is a chance-not likely though when you consider that theyve lied about it many times interior the previous). meaning in US historic past identity have basically been professional-draft for the CSA in the course of the Civil conflict and for the U. S. in the course of the Revolution. If for an offensive conflict or conflict of conquest or something-identity leave in a heartbeat. i don't believe the draft should be utilized in that way. I anticipate this to anger some human beings, yet those human beings will be at liberty about this---i will not leave and basically cover then go back at the same time as its over. If we do a draft for something I evaluate incorrect i visit luckily supply up my US citizenship because that's going to propose that both the gov't is now not listening to the individuals, or something else of the country's beliefs are so a procedures from mine that i'd be more desirable off elsewhere.

It effects how the govern the military. It creates hatred for the military. It makes the Congress a hated entity and fills Canada with new people.
I was not drafted. I joined after the draft was canned. I stayed in for 22 years because I chose to.
What will happen now with a draft is the Military will be downgraded into a Body count butcher.

If it meant that the bush daughters could get drafted. You will not see a draft . If deferments could not be given congress-men's children. You wouldn't see a draft. BUT, we have ships off the gulf coast now, and Iran acting up. Bush is still cashing in on the capital that the tax payers have built up. At present. NO one knows what goes on between his ears.

This answer above me may have been true then but not now. Marines only see the color green. I was in Iraq twice and there were just as many White guy's as the Blacks and Hispanic. Too bad there is still race issues this day and age. And if you want to play that card how about the jewish people. They have been through more then anyone.

I reject the premise of your question... we have NOT reinstated the draft, nor is there ANY serious intent or interest in reinstating the draft in the USA.

I also reject the Vietnam era complaints of those who cry racism or elitism.

It means that like the Viet Nam war, there would be more Blacks and Hispanics on the front line. This is because just like during VN, the white guys will get deferments. That means a medical clearance or children or college student will not be drafted. I was 18 in 1968 and I saw all of that happening. I was part of it!
Can you say racial inequality?
