Let's see....Excellent mass transit system. Many highways and interstates to travel on. Four professional sports franchises. Princeton and Rutgers Universities. Atlantic City Casinos. Over one hundred miles of first class beaches, and boardwalks. Close proximity to both New York, and Philadelphia. Many parks, mountains and lakes. High Per-Capita income levels. Mostly crime free towns. Many shopping malls and shopping areas. Restaurants are plentiful. Only extreme heat and cold for a few weeks all year. Enough? No, New Jersey is far from the worst place to be. I've been here for almost fifty years and love it. You could do much worse somewhere else. Besides, the Soprano's film here!

No way. When I was a kid in CT, all I heard about was the negative stereotype of NJ- the toxic waste, the smell, garbage, trashy people, etc.. When I was 19, I moved to NYC and I found out I was totally wrong. Some of the NJ cities/industrial areas are kinda gross but that's just a small part of the state. So many towns are beautiful with beautiful homes and TONS of well educated people. The kids I met from NJ were always some of the nicest kids I met. Much of Northern NJ is just a suburb of NYC, filled with New Yorkers who just happen to live in NJ because they wanted a house and a yard.
The location is great, it's on the coast, Philly and NYC are close by and Baltimore isn't far either (if you like Baltimore...) I used to think it was a hell hole but now I think it's a great place to live.

I've lived in NJ for my whole life, 19 years. I find it to be a good state even with all the bad commercialism and snap back at us. Yes, we are the 3rd most expensive state in the United States and our property taxes are high, but the overall rating of NJ is good. The school systems are outstanding and we have tests throughout schooling to help kids get the best learning. The state is beautiful, full of lakes, we have a shore, Atlantic City, and its full of historic stuff, especially on George Washington.

Not by a long shot. I don't live there but I visited many times - got family there too. I'm pretty confident that there are worse places on planet Earth. Thanksgiving was only a few weeks ago. If you live in NJ, make the most of it.

Camden NJ recently lost the title of being the most dangerous city in the US. There are now ranked 2nd most dangerous city. Lived in Jersey all my life and I wouldn't even drive in Camden NJ in a swat truck.

I think New Jersey is one step up from living in a yellow pond full of mosquitoes but it is not as fun as Florida.
