Men and women both use the same percentage of their brain's capacity; about 10%; just imagine if they used more, then maybe people wouldn't ask asinine questions...

No two people are the same so generalized statements on this topic have little empirical use. It is also a highly controversial subject, and therefore seldom discussed in public by academic scholars. Truth is dangerous. Although billions are spent in the privet industry for marketing products.
Thermal imaging has shown that men and women use about 50% of their brain in normal thought processing. Although this varies considerably. If you are threatened with physical violent injury 100% of your brain will flash into use with an almost superhuman display of a survival solution. Or you may jam up, freeze and die. Armies have eliminated the later in training for thousands of years.
Blink rate analysis has demonstrated that when watching TV commercials less than 2% of your brain is in use. This is a hypnotic state that repeats itself while shopping. That is why women are targeted for some shows and men for others. Note that the girl does not come with the new car and the slim body does not come with the diet pill. But the image sells -big time.
Is it not reasonable to consider that one who can carry and nurse a child may also think differently that the one with the most testosterone? Due to the vast number of items on display in a store this same hypnotic state is present and does cause people to buy items without any use for them. Yet we will work 60 hours a week to buy $200 rubber shoes for our 6-year-old latchkey child. We could all think much deeper than we do. As was well known and recorded by Plato 2,500 years ago. And Salomon 3,500 years ago. We all have brains but we are too lazy to use them. Why? Because this 3% of our body weight can use 40% of our oxygen when in full use.

Wolf is right. 10% is about all anybody uses.

I heard a cool theory that says if we could use 100% of our brains we could do awesome stuff like talk to animals and other crazy stuff. Just a thought.

Actually, the whole brain (cerebral cortex) is used, unless it is damaged. When they say, 10%, they mean that 10% of the functional potential is used. That number varies from person to person.

Men? Think?

Sorry, I couldn't resist that. What I've heard but can't prove is that men use more of the primitive parts of their brain, whereas women use more of the part that is evolved only in humans.

in reality, all of it. that' 10% thing is just an urban legend. if it were true, most (90%, in fact) brain injuries would be harmless. that's clearly not the case.

however, i think that women use all their brains but men only use like 0.5%.
