Sure. It's really annoying when people do that.

Definitely do ask. Sometime, it takes just 5 seconds to clear the air once and for all.

A good approach is to "inquire" calmly, gently and without judgment. That way the person will definitely be disarmed and embarassed by your grace. (It works. Saw a friend in action. The man apologized.) They will either tell you the reason or apologize or be more angry. No matter what happnes, you will feel so good about yourself for having self-displine, control and courage.

Bonus point - we end up not carrying someone else's bad manner and disturbing emotions in ourselves. By asking, we take pro-active action in being open, we deal with both parties' emotion. That way we'd always be a loving, kind and very happy person.

Hope this help!

Well.. First of all, before jumping to any conclusions, try and find out whether there have been any misunderstandings or anything else that could have triggered that person. If not, try to find a suitable time and place to have an open talk talk about it. There's always a chance that that person is having problems or difficulties on his/her own and unintentionally mistreats you. However, be polite and careful with choices of words when having an open talk to prevent future grudges and awkwardness. Solve it all out with a casual tone and a calm mind. All the best!! ;p

I'm sure on some level they realize it... they are being nasty btw....

I would flat out tell them what they did and how it made you feel. Judge from the response you get if they are worthy of maintaining a place in your life.

hope this helps.

If you honestly feel they don't know that they've hurt your feelings, I think you should say, "I don't like it when you ; I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that any more." Their response will say a lot; just about anybody who didn't realize they were being hurtful will immediately apologize and cease the behavior; someone being hurtful intentionally will generally just blow it off or tell you that you're "too sensitive" (whatever THAT is). Good luck!

Be nasty back in the exact same fashion. Then, when they look at you like youre crazy, point out that you are not doing anything different than them...

Try to kindly but firmly bring it to their attention what they did, how it made you feel, and ask them to be more considerate in the future.

Call them on it. Ask what do you mean by that...and let them know that they didn't have to say it in that manner.

An unintentional slight can be corrected, without being unpleasant.
